וַיִּשְׁמַע זְרֻבָּבֶל ׀ בֶּֽן־שַׁלְתִּיאֵל וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן־יְהוֹצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וְכֹל ׀ שְׁאֵרִית הָעָם בְּקוֹל יְהֹוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶם וְעַל־דִּבְרֵי חַגַּי הַנָּבִיא כַּאֲשֶׁר שְׁלָחוֹ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיהֶם וַיִּֽירְאוּ הָעָם מִפְּנֵי יְהֹוָֽה׃
Then Zerubbavel the son of Shalti᾽el, and Yehoshua the son of Yehożadaq, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Ḥaggay the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people feared before the Lord.

וַיֹּאמֶר חַגַּי מַלְאַךְ יְהֹוָה בְּמַלְאֲכוּת יְהֹוָה לָעָם לֵאמֹר אֲנִי אִתְּכֶם נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃
Then Ḥaggay the Lord’s messenger spoke the Lord’s message to the people, saying, I am with you, says the Lord.

וַיָּעַר יְהֹוָה אֶת־רוּחַ זְרֻבָּבֶל בֶּן־שַׁלְתִּיאֵל פַּחַת יְהוּדָה וְאֶת־רוּחַ יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן־יְהוֹצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וְֽאֶת־רוּחַ כֹּל שְׁאֵרִית הָעָם וַיָּבֹאוּ וַיַּעֲשׂוּ מְלָאכָה בְּבֵית־יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃ {פ}
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbavel the son of Shalti᾽el, governor of Yehuda, and the spirit of Yehoshua the son of Yehożadaq, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,

וַיָּבֹאוּ וַיַּעֲשׂוּ מְלָאכָה. הִתְחִילוּ מְסַתְּתִין בָּאֲבָנִים וּמְנַסְּרִין עֵצִים, בַּשִּׁשִּׁי בְּעֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה לַחֹדֶשׁ, וּבַשְּׁבִיעִי בְּעֶשְׂרִים וְאֶחָד הָיָה דְבַר ה׳ אֶל חַגַּי.
and they came and performed labor They commenced cutting stones and sawing trees in the sixth month, on the twenty fourth of the month; and in the seventh month, on the twenty-first day, the word of the Lord came to Haggai.
בְּמַלְאֲכוּת ה׳. בִּשְׁלִיחוּת הַמָּקוֹם.
in [fulfilling] the Lord’s mission In the messengership of the Omnipresent.
