וְאֵלֶּה הַמְּלָכִים אֲשֶׁר מָֽלְכוּ בְּאֶרֶץ אֱדוֹם לִפְנֵי מְלׇךְ־מֶלֶךְ לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בֶּלַע בֶּן־בְּעוֹר וְשֵׁם עִירוֹ דִּנְהָֽבָה׃
Now these are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the children of Yisra᾽el; Bela the son of Be῾or: and the name of his city was Dinhava.

וַיָּמׇת בָּלַע וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו יוֹבָב בֶּן־זֶרַח מִבׇּצְרָֽה׃
And when Bela was dead, Yovav the son of Zeraĥ of Bożra reigned in his place.

וַיָּמׇת יוֹבָב וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו חוּשָׁם מֵאֶרֶץ הַתֵּימָנִֽי׃

וַיָּמׇת חוּשָׁם וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו הֲדַד בֶּן־בְּדַד הַמַּכֶּה אֶת־מִדְיָן בִּשְׂדֵה מוֹאָב וְשֵׁם עִירוֹ (עיות) [עֲוִֽית]׃
And when Ḥusham was dead, Ḥadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midyan in the field of Mo᾽av, reigned in his place: and the name of his city was ῾Avit.

וַיָּמׇת בַּעַל חָנָן וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו הֲדַד וְשֵׁם עִירוֹ פָּעִי וְשֵׁם אִשְׁתּוֹ מְהֵֽיטַבְאֵל בַּת־מַטְרֵד בַּת מֵי זָהָֽב׃
And when Ba῾al-ĥanan was dead, Ḥadad reigned in his place: and the name of his city was Pa῾i; and his wife’s name was Mehetav᾽el, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahav.

וַיָּמׇת הֲדָד {פ}
וַיִּֽהְיוּ אַלּוּפֵי אֱדוֹם אַלּוּף תִּמְנָע אַלּוּף (עליה) [עַֽלְוָה] אַלּוּף יְתֵֽת׃
Ḥadad died also. And the chiefs of Edom were; chief Timna, chief ῾Alva, chief Yetet,

ואלה המלכים. מפרש בב"ר א"ר איבו קודם שלא עמד מלך מישראל (אבל משמלך מלך לישראל) נצב מלך באדום רבי יוסי בן חנינא אומר בשעה שזה מעמיד מלכים זה מעמיד שופטים זה מעמיד אלופים זה מעמיד נשיאים אמר רבי יהושע בן לוי זה העמיד ח' וזה העמיד ח' ושמעתי וכי לא היה לאדום אלא אלו ח' מלכים ולישראל ח' והלא יותר היו יורם אחזיה יואש וכו' אלא זה העמיד ח' מלכים פירוש מזמן שהמליכו אותן ח' מלכים של אדום לא המליכו את מלכי ישראל כי קודם דוד היו וראשי בית אבותיו:
