וַיִּקַּח גְּשֽׁוּר־וַאֲרָם אֶת־חַוֺּת יָאִיר מֵאִתָּם אֶת־קְנָת וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֶיהָ שִׁשִּׁים עִיר כׇּל־אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי מָכִיר אֲבִֽי־גִלְעָֽד׃
And he took Geshur, and Aram, with Ḥavvot-ya᾽ir, from them, with Qenat, and its hamlets, sixty cities. All these belonged to the sons of Makhir the father of Gil῾ad.

וְאַחַר מוֹת־חֶצְרוֹן בְּכָלֵב אֶפְרָתָה וְאֵשֶׁת חֶצְרוֹן אֲבִיָּה וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ אֶת־אַשְׁחוּר אֲבִי תְקֽוֹעַ׃ {ס}
And after Ḥeżron had died in Kalev-efrata, then Aviyya, Ḥeżron’s wife bore him Ashĥur the father of Teqoa.

בכלב אפרתה. על שם (כלב) אשתו קראו את העיר (כלב) אפרתה:
ותלד לו את אשחור אבי תקוע. לאחר מיתת חצרון:
אבי תקוע. שר של עיר תקוע שהוא של שבט יהודה:
ויקח גשור וארם. גשור הוא גשורי והמעכתי לפי שהיו קרובים לארמים שהיו יושבים במזרחה של ארץ ישראל וארם היו יושבים במזרח דכתיב (ישעיה ט') ארם מקדם ופלשתים מאחור ובימי השופטים כשחטאו ישראל מסרם ביד אויב ביד ארם ואז הלכו (אלו סא"א) ולקחום מהם וכשבא דוד החזירן ולפי שהחזירן כתבן כאן:
