וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֶל־יֵהוּא יַעַן אֲשֶׁר־הֱטִיבֹתָ לַעֲשׂוֹת הַיָּשָׁר בְּעֵינַי כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר בִּלְבָבִי עָשִׂיתָ לְבֵית אַחְאָב בְּנֵי רְבִעִים יֵשְׁבוּ לְךָ עַל־כִּסֵּא יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And the Lord said to Yehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, and hast done to the house of Aĥ᾽av according to all that was in my heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Yisra᾽el.

בני רבעים. ארבע דורות, תחת שהשמדת את בית אחאב, שמלכו ארבע דורות, עמרי, ואחאב, ואחזיה, ויהורם:
Four generations of your sons. Four generations12The four generations of Yeihu’s descendants are: Yehoachaz, Yehoash, Yorovom and Zecharyoh. [as reward] for your having destroyed the house of Achov, which reigned for four generations: Omri, Achov, Achazyoh, and Yehorom.
וְיֵהוּא לֹא שָׁמַר לָלֶכֶת בְּתֽוֹרַת־יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכׇל־לְבָבוֹ לֹא סָר מֵעַל חַטֹּאות יָרׇבְעָם אֲשֶׁר הֶחֱטִיא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
But Yehu took no heed to walk in the Tora of the Lord God of Yisra᾽el with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Yorov῾am, who made Yisra᾽el to sin.

בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם הֵחֵל יְהֹוָה לְקַצּוֹת בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּכֵּם חֲזָאֵל בְּכׇל־גְּבוּל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
In those days the Lord began to cut off parts of Yisra᾽el: and Ḥaza᾽el smote them in all the borders of Yisra᾽el,

לקצות. כמו (בראשית כז מו): קצתי בחיי:
To show His disgust. As in, “קַצְתִּי בְּחַיָּי [=I am disgusted with my life].”13Bereishis 27:46.14Alternatively, “began to cut [=לְקַצוֹת] into Yisroel” as in Devorim 25:12, “you shall cut off [=וְקַצוֹתָ].”—Metzudas Tzion Or, “began to strike at those living at the border [=קָצֶה],” i.e., those living in the eastern part of Eiver Hayardein.
מִן־הַיַּרְדֵּן מִזְרַח הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ אֵת כׇּל־אֶרֶץ הַגִּלְעָד הַגָּדִי וְהָראוּבֵנִי וְהַֽמְנַשִּׁי מֵֽעֲרֹעֵר אֲשֶׁר־עַל־נַחַל אַרְנֹן וְהַגִּלְעָד וְהַבָּשָֽׁן׃
from the Yarden eastwards, all the land of the Gil῾ad, the Gadi, and the Re᾽uveni and the Menashshi, from ῾Aro῾er, which is by the wadi Arnon, and the Gil῾ad and the Bashan.
