[(When I heard their mockery, I prayed)]: Hear, our G-d, for we have been made [(objects of)] shame, and return their insults to their heads, and reduce them to shame in the land of [their] captivity [(when they are exiled)]!

And do not cover up their transgressions, and do not erase their sins from before You, for they have vented their anger at the builders [(by mocking them)]!

for they have provoked that they have provoked the builders to ridicule them.
וַנִּבְנֶה אֶת־הַחוֹמָה וַתִּקָּשֵׁר כׇּל־הַחוֹמָה עַד־חֶצְיָהּ וַיְהִי לֵב לָעָם לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ {פ}
And we [continued] building the wall, and when [the breaches of] half the wall had been filled, the heart of the people was [inspired] to do [i.e., to complete it].
And we [continued] building the wall, and when [the breaches of] half the wall had been filled, the heart of the people was [inspired] to do [i.e., to complete it].

was built Heb. וַתִּקָשֵּׁר, lit. it was bound. When the wall was bound up and built to its half, the people were eager and anxious to complete their building of it.
Hearken, our God When I heard their ridicule of us, I prayed this prayer.
