ולא תימא כהנא רבא אנא. כלומר, אדם גדול אנא, אבל אי אפשר לפרש כהן ממש, דרב כהנא לא כהן היה, וכדאמרינן בחולין (קלב, א) רב כהנא אכיל בשביל אשתו. אלא אם תאמר דההוא רב כהנא אחרינא הוה ולא רב כהנא תלמידו של רב.
