טַעַם בִּרְכַּת אַתָּה חוֹנֵן וּבוֹ סְעִיף אֶחָד:
מִפְּנֵי שֶׁמּוֹתַר הָאָדָם מִן הַבְּהֵמָה הִיא הַבִּינָה וְהַשֵּׂכֶל קָבְעוּ בִּרְכַּת "אַתָּה חוֹנֵן" רֹאשׁ לָאֶמְצָעִיּוֹת, שֶׁאִם אֵין בִּינָה — אֵין תְּפִלָּה:
