Of David. Fret not thyself because of evil doers, nor be envious against the workers of iniquity.
Of David. Fret not thyself because of evil doers, nor be envious against the workers of iniquity.
Rashi
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.
Rashi
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and enjoy security.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and enjoy security.
Rashi
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thy heart.
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thy heart.
Rashi
Commit thy way to the Lord; trust also in him; and he will bring it to pass.
Commit thy way to the Lord; trust also in him; and he will bring it to pass.
Rashi
And he will bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment like the noonday.
And he will bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment like the noonday.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who accomplishes wicked devices.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who accomplishes wicked devices.
Rashi
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself: it comes to no good.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself: it comes to no good.
Rashi
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those who wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those who wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
Rashi
For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: and thou shalt look well at his place, but he will not be there.
For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: and thou shalt look well at his place, but he will not be there.
Rashi
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
The wicked man plots against the just, and grinds his teeth against him.
The wicked man plots against the just, and grinds his teeth against him.
Rashi
The Lord shall laugh at him: for he sees that his day is coming.
The Lord shall laugh at him: for he sees that his day is coming.
The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as are of upright ways.
The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as are of upright ways.
Rashi
Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked men.
A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked men.
Rashi
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholds the just.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholds the just.
The Lord knows the days of the innocent: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
The Lord knows the days of the innocent: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
Rashi
They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
But the wicked and the enemies of the Lord shall perish like the glory of the meadows; they shall consume; they shall pass away in smoke.
But the wicked and the enemies of the Lord shall perish like the glory of the meadows; they shall consume; they shall pass away in smoke.
Rashi
The wicked borrows, but does not pay back: but the righteous man gives with a good grace.
The wicked borrows, but does not pay back: but the righteous man gives with a good grace.
Rashi
For such as are blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that are cursed of him shall be cut off.
For such as are blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that are cursed of him shall be cut off.
Rashi
The steps of a man are ordered by the Lord: and he delights in his way.
The steps of a man are ordered by the Lord: and he delights in his way.
Rashi
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
Rashi
I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen a just man forsaken, and his seed begging bread.
I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen a just man forsaken, and his seed begging bread.
Rashi
He lends generously at all times; and his seed is blessed.
He lends generously at all times; and his seed is blessed.
Rashi
Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
For the Lord loves justice, and forsakes not his pious ones; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
For the Lord loves justice, and forsakes not his pious ones; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it for ever.
The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it for ever.
The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue discourses justice.
The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue discourses justice.
Rashi
The Tora of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall falter.
The Tora of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall falter.
Rashi
The wicked man watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.
The wicked man watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.
The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor allow him to be condemned when he is judged.
The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor allow him to be condemned when he is judged.
Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.
I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.
Rashi
Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: I sought him, but he could not be found.
Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: I sought him, but he could not be found.
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
Rashi
But the transgressors are destroyed together: the end of the wicked is cut off.
But the transgressors are destroyed together: the end of the wicked is cut off.
And the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
And the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
וַיַּעְזְרֵם יְהֹוָה וַֽיְפַלְּטֵם יְפַלְּטֵם מֵרְשָׁעִים וְיוֹשִׁיעֵם כִּי־חָסוּ בֽוֹ׃ {פ}
And the Lord will help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they take refuge in him.
And the Lord will help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they take refuge in him.
