וָֽאֶקְרַב אֶל־הַנְּבִיאָה וַתַּהַר וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן {ס} וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֵלַי קְרָא שְׁמוֹ מַהֵר שָׁלָל חָשׁ בַּֽז׃
And I came near to the prophetess; and she conceived and bore a son. And the Lord said to me, call his name Maher-shalal-ĥash-baz (the spoil speeds; the prey hastens).

כִּי בְּטֶרֶם יֵדַע הַנַּעַר קְרֹא אָבִי וְאִמִּי יִשָּׂא ׀ אֶת־חֵיל דַּמֶּשֶׂק וְאֵת שְׁלַל שֹׁמְרוֹן לִפְנֵי מֶלֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃ {ס}
For before the child shall know how to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Dammeseq and the spoil of Shomeron shall be taken away before the king of Ashshur.

ישא את חיל דמשק. ויעל דמשק ויתפשה (מלכים ב טז):
ואת שלל שומרון. לאחר שנהרג פקח ומלך הושע עליו עלה שלמנסר מלך אשור ויהי לו הושע עבד ונתן לו מנחה ושוחד (שם טז) הוא שלל שומרון כל אלה היה בשנת ד' לאחז:
ותלד בן. הוא הבן עצמו שקראה הנביאה עמנו אל על שם שהיה הקב"ה בעזר של חזקיה כשימלוך וא"א לומר שבן שני הוא שהרי שנינו בשנת ד' לאחז נאמרה נבואה זו ובשנת ד' לאחז נהרג פקח וא"א שני בנים להוולד בשנה אחת בזה אחר זה וישעיה אביו קרא שמו מהר שלל על שם פורענות העתידה לבא על רצין ובן רמליהו שהיו באין ליטול מלוכה מבית דוד ותושבת מלכותו של חזקיהו:
