בֵּאדַיִן נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּר הִתְמְלִי חֱמָא וּצְלֵם אַנְפּוֹהִי (אשתנו) [אֶשְׁתַּנִּי] עַל־שַׁדְרַךְ מֵישַׁךְ וַעֲבֵד נְגוֹ עָנֵה וְאָמַר לְמֵזֵא לְאַתּוּנָא חַד־שִׁבְעָה עַל דִּי חֲזֵה לְמֵזְיֵֽהּ׃
Then was Nevuchadnezzar full of fury, and the expression of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Aved-nego, whereupon he spoke up and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

וצלם אנפוהי אשתני. ופרצוף פניו נשתנו:
למזא לאתונא. להצית לכבשן האש ולחממו:
חד שבעה על די חזה למזיה. על אחת שבע פעמים ששיערוהו עד כדי הסיקו וכאילו יבעירוהו ז' שיעורין כמוהו:

וּלְגֻבְרִין גִּבָּֽרֵי־חַיִל דִּי בְחַיְלֵהּ אֲמַר לְכַפָּתָה לְשַׁדְרַךְ מֵישַׁךְ וַעֲבֵד נְגוֹ לְמִרְמֵא לְאַתּוּן נוּרָא יָקִֽדְתָּֽא׃

ולגבורין גברי חיל די בחיליה. ולאנשים גבורי כח אשר בחילו:
אמר לכפתה. צוה לאסור אותם שראה מתחזקים לענותו קשות ואמר גבורים הם אלו וצוה לגבורים אשר בחילו לאסור אותם:
בֵּאדַיִן גֻּבְרַיָּא אִלֵּךְ כְּפִתוּ בְּסַרְבָּלֵיהוֹן (פטישיהון) [פַּטְּשֵׁיהוֹן] וְכַרְבְּלָתְהוֹן וּלְבֻשֵׁיהוֹן וּרְמִיו לְגֽוֹא־אַתּוּן נוּרָא יָקִֽדְתָּֽא׃

גובריא אלך. אנשים אלו:
כפיתו בסרבליהון. נתקשרו בבגדי מעטפותן:
פטשיהון וכרבלתהון. מיני מלבוש מלכות שהיה להם ואע"פ שהיו יוצאין לידון לפני נ"נ דיני מיתה לא שנו בגדיהם להשפיל את גדולתם מכאן למדו חכמים שאפי' בשעת הסכנה לא ישנה אדם מן השררה שהוחזק בה:
וכרבלתהון. יש לו דוגמא (בד"ה א' טו) ודוד מכורבל:
ורמיו לגוא אתון נורא. והושלכו לתוך כבשן בוערה:
כׇּל־קֳבֵל דְּנָה מִן־דִּי מִלַּת מַלְכָּא מַחְצְפָה וְאַתּוּנָא אֵזֵה יַתִּירָה גֻּבְרַיָּא אִלֵּךְ דִּי הַסִּקוּ לְשַׁדְרַךְ מֵישַׁךְ וַעֲבֵד נְגוֹ קַטִּל הִמּוֹן שְׁבִיבָא דִּי נוּרָֽא׃
And, because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire slew those men who had seized upon Shadrach, Meshach, and Aved-nego.

כל קבל דנה. כל עומת זאת אשר מצות המלך היתה עזה:
ואתונא אזה יתירא. והכבשן הוסק מאד:
גובריא אלך. אלו האנשים הגבורים אשר קשרו את חנניה מישאל ועזריה והשליכום לכבשן:
קטיל המון שביבא די נורא. שרף אותם כח שביב האש:
וְגֻבְרַיָּא אִלֵּךְ תְּלָתֵּהוֹן שַׁדְרַךְ מֵישַׁךְ וַעֲבֵד נְגוֹ נְפַלוּ לְגֽוֹא־אַתּוּן־נוּרָא יָֽקִדְתָּא מְכַפְּתִֽין׃ {פ}
