וַתְּהִי־עוֹד מִלְחָמָה בְּגַת וַיְהִי ׀ אִישׁ מִדָּה וְאֶצְבְּעֹתָיו שֵׁשׁ־וָשֵׁשׁ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבַּע וְגַם־הוּא נוֹלַד לְהָרָפָֽא׃
And yet again there was war at Gat, where there was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were twenty four, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the Rafa.

ואצבעותיו שש ושש עשרים וארבע. י"ב בידים וי"ב ברגלים (ובשמואל ב כ״א:כ׳) אומר עשרים וארבע מספר כלומר זה בצד זה שיכול למנות וגם זה היה כחו שיכול לאחוז החרב בכח גדול בידו ובמסכת ברכות מפרש ל"ל דכתיב שש ושש עשרים וארבע צריכא אי כתב רחמנא שש ושש הוה אמרינן שית דידיה ושית דכרעיה לכך כתיב כ"ד ואי כתיב כ"ד הוה אמרינן שבע בהא וחמש בהא לכך כתב רחמנא שש ושש עשרים וארבע:
וַיְחָרֵף אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּכֵּהוּ יְהוֹנָתָן בֶּן־שִׁמְעָא אֲחִי דָוִֽיד׃
