בְּנֵי מְרָרִי מַחְלִי וּמֻשִׁי וְאֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחוֹת הַלֵּוִי לַאֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

אֶלְקָנָה (בנו) [בְּנֵי] אֶלְקָנָה צוֹפַי בְּנוֹ וְנַחַת בְּנֽוֹ׃

ובני שמואל הבכור ושני ואביה. ושני זה יואל פתרון והשני אביה כלומר שני לראשון הוא היה אביה ושני לאביה הוא היה יואל שלא נכתב ודוגמתם כי אם הסוס אסור וחמור אסור (מלכים ב' ו') כמו והחמור וכן הפר שני דגדעון וכן הראשון (שופטים ו׳:כ״ו):
