וְשָׁם הָיָה נָבִיא לַֽיהֹוָה עֹדֵד שְׁמוֹ וַיֵּצֵא לִפְנֵי הַצָּבָא הַבָּא לְשֹׁמְרוֹן וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם הִנֵּה בַּחֲמַת יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽי־אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם עַל־יְהוּדָה נְתָנָם בְּיֶדְכֶם וַתַּהַרְגוּ־בָם בְּזַעַף עַד לַשָּׁמַיִם הִגִּֽיעַ׃
But a prophet of the Lord was there, whose name was ῾Oded: and he went out before the army that came to Shomeron, and he said to them. Behold, because the Lord God of your fathers was angry with Yehuda, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in rage that reaches up to heaven.

וְעַתָּה בְּנֵֽי־יְהוּדָה וִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִם אַתֶּם אֹֽמְרִים לִכְבֹּשׁ לַעֲבָדִים וְלִשְׁפָחוֹת לָכֶם הֲלֹא רַק־אַתֶּם עִמָּכֶם אֲשָׁמוֹת לַיהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃
And now you purpose to keep under the children of Yehuda and Yerushalayim to be bondmen and bondwomen to you: but are there not with you, even with you, crimes against the Lord your God?

וְעַתָּה שְׁמָעוּנִי וְהָשִׁיבוּ הַשִּׁבְיָה אֲשֶׁר שְׁבִיתֶם מֵאֲחֵיכֶם כִּי חֲרוֹן אַף־יְהֹוָה עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ {ס}
Now hear me therefore, and release the captives whom you have taken captive of your brethren; for the fierce wrath of the Lord is upon you.
