וַיַּֽעֲלוּ מִבְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִן־הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַלְוִיִּם וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִים וְהַשֹּׁעֲרִים וְהַנְּתִינִים אֶל־יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם בִּשְׁנַת־שֶׁבַע לְאַרְתַּחְשַׁסְתְּא הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And some of the children of Israel went up, and some of the priests and the Levites, and the singers and the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year [(one year after the completion of the Temple)] of Artachshast [(Darius)] the king.

בחדש החמישי. הוא חדש אב כי באחד לחודש ניסן אותו היום היתה תחלת עלייתם מבבל ובאחד לחדש אב באו לירושלים:
in the fifth month i.e., the month of Av, for the first of the month of Nissan was the beginning of their ascent from Babylon, and on the first of the month of Av they arrived in Jerusalem.

יסוד המעלה. יסוד תחלת העליה:

בשנת שבע. היא שנה אחר תשלום הבית:
