וַיַּעַן הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־הָאִשָּׁה אַל־נָא תְכַחֲדִי מִמֶּנִּי דָּבָר אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי שֹׁאֵל אֹתָךְ וַתֹּאמֶר הָֽאִשָּׁה יְדַבֶּר־נָא אֲדֹנִי הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
The king replied and said to the woman, "Please do not conceal from me the matter that I am going to ask you." The woman said, "My master the king, please speak."

וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ הֲיַד יוֹאָב אִתָּךְ בְּכׇל־זֹאת וַתַּעַן הָאִשָּׁה וַתֹּאמֶר חֵי־נַפְשְׁךָ אֲדֹנִי הַמֶּלֶךְ אִם־אִשׁ ׀ לְהֵמִין וּלְהַשְׂמִיל מִכֹּל אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּר אֲדֹנִי הַמֶּלֶךְ כִּֽי־עַבְדְּךָ יוֹאָב הוּא צִוָּנִי וְהוּא שָׂם בְּפִי שִׁפְחָֽתְךָ אֵת כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
The king said, "Is Yoav's hand with you in all of this?" The woman replied and said, "By your life, my master, the king, it is impossible to go right or left from all that my master, the king has said because [indeed] your servant, Yoav, he is the one who commanded me and he put in your handmaiden's mouth all these words.

לְבַעֲבוּר סַבֵּב אֶת־פְּנֵי הַדָּבָר עָשָׂה עַבְדְּךָ יוֹאָב אֶת־הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה וַאדֹנִי חָכָם כְּחׇכְמַת מַלְאַךְ הָאֱלֹהִים לָדַעַת אֶֽת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ {ס}
In order to skirt around the [direct] face of the matter has your servant, Yoav done this thing. [But] my master is wise like the wisdom possessed by an angel of God to know everything [going on] in the land."

Rashi
לבעבור סבב. לגלגל, עד שיצא דבר בנו של המלך לאור:
In order to skirt around. To skirt around [the issue] until the matter concerning the king's son comes to light.
ואדני חכם. והבנת כי מאת יואב יצאת:
[But] my master is wise. and you understood that this is coming from Yoav.
אם אש. כמו אם יש, כמו היש, וכן (מיכה ו י): עוד האש בית רשע, כמו היש:
It is impossible. [This is] like "if it is possible" or like "is it possible" So too [we find] "Is there in the house of a wicked person"7Micha 6:10. meaning "is there".8הָאִש is standing in for הֲיֵשׁ which means “is there”.
