יַֽעַנְךָ יְהֹוָה בְּיוֹם צָרָה יְשַׂגֶּבְךָ שֵׁם ׀ אֱלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹֽב׃
May the Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Ya῾aqov defend thee!

שם אלהי יעקב. שהבטיחו בלכתו לחרן ושמר הבטחתו לכך נאמר אלהי יעקב:
יִשְׁלַֽח־עֶזְרְךָ מִקֹּדֶשׁ וּמִצִּיּוֹן יִסְעָדֶֽךָּ׃
May he send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Żiyyon!

מקדש. מהיכל קדשו שהוא שוכן שם:
יִזְכֹּר כׇּל־מִנְחֹתֶךָ וְעוֹלָתְךָ יְדַשְּׁנֶה סֶֽלָה׃

מנחותיך ועולתך. הם התפלות שאתם מתפללים במלחמה:
ידשנה סלה. לשון שומן כמו (דברים ל״א:כ׳) ואכל ושבע ודשן כלומר יקבלם ברצון כעולות מחים:
יִֽתֶּן־לְךָ כִלְבָבֶךָ וְֽכׇל־עֲצָתְךָ יְמַלֵּֽא׃

נרננה בישועתך. כשיושיע אותך הקב"ה נרננ' כולנו להקב"ה:
ובשמו נדגול. נתאסף ונעשה חיל:
עַתָּה יָדַעְתִּי כִּי הוֹשִׁיעַ ׀ יְהֹוָה מְשִׁיחוֹ יַעֲנֵהוּ מִשְּׁמֵי קׇדְשׁוֹ בִּגְבֻרוֹת יֵשַׁע יְמִינֽוֹ׃

עתה ידעתי. זו היא הרננה שנרנן עתה בתשועה זו שבאה ליואב ולישראל, ידעתי שחפץ המקום בי וענני משמי קדשו כי תשועתם היא תשועתי:
אֵלֶּה בָרֶכֶב וְאֵלֶּה בַסּוּסִים וַאֲנַחְנוּ ׀ בְּשֵׁם־יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ נַזְכִּֽיר׃

אלה ברכב. יש מן האומות שבוטחים ברכב ברזל שלהם ויש שבוטחים בסוסיהם אבל אנחנו בשם ה' נזכיר כי לו הישועה נזכיר לשון הקטרה ותפלה כמו (ישעיהו ס״ו:ג׳) מזכיר לבונה את אזכרתה (ויקרא א') ולפי' המה יכרעו ויפולו:
הֵמָּה כָּרְעוּ וְנָפָלוּ וַאֲנַחְנוּ קַּמְנוּ וַנִּתְעוֹדָֽד׃

ואנחנו קמנו ונתעודד. נתגבר עליהם כמו (לקמן קמז) מעודד ענוים לשון עוז:
יְהֹוָה הוֹשִׁיעָה הַמֶּלֶךְ יַעֲנֵנוּ בְיוֹם־קׇרְאֵֽנוּ׃ {פ}

יענך ה' ביום צרה. המזמור הזה על שם שהיה שולח את יואב ואת כל ישראל למלחמה והוא היה עומד בירושלם ומתפלל עליהן כענין שנאמר (שמואל ב י״ח:ג׳-ד׳) טוב כי תהיה לנו מעיר לעזור ואמרו רבותינו אילמלא דוד לא עשה יואב מלחמה:
