מַשְׂכִּיל לְאָסָף לָמָה אֱלֹהִים זָנַחְתָּ לָנֶצַח יֶעְשַׁן אַפְּךָ בְּצֹאן מַרְעִיתֶֽךָ׃
A Maskil of Asaf. O God, why hast Thou cast us off for ever? why does Thy anger smoke against the sheep of Thy pasture?

זְכֹר עֲדָתְךָ ׀ קָנִיתָ קֶּדֶם גָּאַלְתָּ שֵׁבֶט נַחֲלָתֶךָ הַר־צִיּוֹן זֶה ׀ שָׁכַנְתָּ בּֽוֹ׃
Remember Thy congregation, which Thou hast purchased of old; the tribe of Thy inheritance, which Thou hast redeemed; this mount Żiyyon, wherein Thou hast dwelt.

קנית קדם. לפני בריית עולם שנאמר (לקמן צ') מעון אתה היית לנו בטרם הרים יולדו:
זה שכנת בו. תקון לשון הוא כמו (ישעיה מ"ב) זו חטאנו לו והוא כמו אשר שכנת בו:
הָרִימָה פְעָמֶיךָ לְמַשֻּׁאוֹת נֶצַח כׇּל־הֵרַע אוֹיֵב בַּקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃

הרימה פעמיך למשואות נצח. הגבה פעימות ובהלות שלך שיהו לאויביך למשואות נצח על כל אשר הרע האויב בבית המקדש, כן חברו מנחם עם ותפעם רוחו:
למשואות. לשון חורבן כמו שאיה (שם ו'), תשאה שממה (סא"א):

מועדך. הוא בית המקדש אשר נאמר בו ונועדתי לך שם:
שמו אותותם. כשגברה ידם להחריבו אז שמו להם את אותות קסמיהם שהם אותות אמת ומה הם הקסמים קלקל בחצים שאל בתרפים:
יִוָּדַע כְּמֵבִיא לְמָעְלָה בִּסְבׇךְ־עֵץ קַרְדֻּמּֽוֹת׃

יודע כמביא למעלה בסבך עץ קרדומות. יודע האויב כשהיה מכה בשערי פתחי המקדש שהוא כמביא מכותיו למעלה ברקיע ומנין היה יודע שהרי היה רואה שהיה העץ מסבך ואוחז את הקרדומות ובולען כמו שאמרו רבותינו כולהו בלעתינהו חד תרעא דירושלים:
בסבך עץ קרדומות. לשון נאחז בסבך (בראשית כ״ב:י״ג), העץ סובך אותם והם נסבכין בו:
(ועת) [וְעַתָּה] פִּתּוּחֶיהָ יָּחַד בְּכַשִּׁיל וְכֵילַפּוֹת יַהֲלֹמֽוּן׃

ועתה. אע"פ שהיה רואה שלפני הקב"ה קשה לא נמנע מלהלום כל פתחיה וכל שעריה יחד:
בכשיל וכילפות. כלי משחית של נגרים הם ובקרדומות באו לה תרגום יונתן בכשיליא, כילפות לשון ערבי הוא כך פירש דונש והוא מכלי הנגרים:
יהלומון. האויבים:
שִׁלְחוּ בָאֵשׁ מִקְדָּשֶׁךָ לָאָרֶץ חִלְּלוּ מִֽשְׁכַּן־שְׁמֶֽךָ׃

אמרו בלבם נינם יחד. נינם מושליהם וכן (לעיל ע"ב) ינון שמו, ואחריתו יהיה מנון (משלי כ״ט:כ״א) כל מושליהם מחשבה א' להם הראשונים כאחרונים להזדווג לפטרונם של ישראל תחלה ואח"כ יזדווגו להם ותדע שהרי שרפו כל מועדי אל שהיו בארץ כל בתי וועד שלו, פלשתים החריבו שילה נבכדנאצר החריב בית ראשון ואחרים החריבו בית שני:
אֽוֹתֹתֵינוּ לֹא־רָאִינוּ אֵֽין־עוֹד נָבִיא וְלֹֽא־אִתָּנוּ יֹדֵעַ עַד־מָֽה׃

אותותינו. שהבטחתנו ביד נביאך אין אנו רואים אותם בימים רבים שאנו בגולה נתנבא אסף על ימי הגלות:

נפש תורך. תור שלך וי"ת לשון תורים ובני יונה התור הזה משמת הזכר בן זוגה אינה מזדווגת לאחר אף ישראל לא החליפוך באל אחר אע"פ שרחקת מהם והיו כאלמנה:
