אֵל־נְקָמוֹת יְהֹוָה אֵל נְקָמוֹת הוֹפִֽיעַ׃
O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs; O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

הִנָּשֵׂא שֹׁפֵט הָאָרֶץ הָשֵׁב גְּמוּל עַל־גֵּאִֽים׃
Lift up Thyself, Thou judge of the earth: render to the proud their recompense.

יתאמרו. ישתבחו כמו (דברים כו) האמרת והאמירך:
עַמְּךָ יְהֹוָה יְדַכְּאוּ וְֽנַחֲלָתְךָ יְעַנּֽוּ׃
They crush Thy people, O Lord, and afflict Thy heritage.

בִּינוּ בֹּעֲרִים בָּעָם וּכְסִילִים מָתַי תַּשְׂכִּֽילוּ׃
Understand, you brutish among the people: and fools, when will you be wise?

בינו בוערים בעם. קצת שוטים שבעולם:
הֲנֹטַֽע אֹזֶן הֲלֹא יִשְׁמָע אִֽם־יֹצֵֽר עַיִן הֲלֹא יַבִּֽיט׃
He That planted the ear, shall he not hear? he That formed the eye, shall he not see?

הנוטע אזן. שמא הקב"ה שנטע אוזן לא ישמע צעקת עמו ועניו:
הֲיֹסֵר גּוֹיִם הֲלֹא יוֹכִיחַ הַֽמְלַמֵּד אָדָם דָּֽעַת׃
He That chastises nations, shall he not correct? he That teaches man knowledge?

הלא יוכיח. ייסר אתכם על כך:
יְֽהֹוָה יֹדֵעַ מַחְשְׁבוֹת אָדָם כִּי־הֵמָּה הָֽבֶל׃

ה' יודע. מחשבותיכם שאתם סבורין להתגאות בנזר המלוכה ותדעו כי הבל הם:
אַשְׁרֵי ׀ הַגֶּבֶר אֲשֶׁר־תְּיַסְּרֶנּוּ יָּהּ וּֽמִתּוֹרָתְךָ תְלַמְּדֶֽנּוּ׃
Blessed is the man whom Thou dost chasten, O Lord, and teachest him out of Thy Tora,

אשרי הגבר. אשריהם הצדיקי' המעוני' תחת ידיכם ובלבד שיהו עוסקין בתורה ובמצות:
לְהַשְׁקִיט לוֹ מִימֵי רָע עַד יִכָּרֶה לָרָשָׁע שָֽׁחַת׃
that Thou mayst give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked.

להשקיט לו מימי רע. כי היסורין גורמין לו להשקיט להם מימי דין גיהנם עד שיראה שיכרה לרשע שחת:
כִּי ׀ לֹא־יִטֹּשׁ יְהֹוָה עַמּוֹ וְנַחֲלָתוֹ לֹא יַעֲזֹֽב׃
For the Lord will not cast off his people, nor will he forsake his inheritance.

כִּֽי־עַד־צֶדֶק יָשׁוּב מִשְׁפָּט וְאַחֲרָיו כׇּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃
But judgment shall return to righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

כי עד צדק ישוב משפט. היסורין שלהם עד שיצדקו בשבילם ואחר המשפט כל ישרי לב יתקבצו כי יטלו שכרם:
מִֽי־יָקוּם לִי עִם־מְרֵעִים מִי־יִתְיַצֵּב לִי עִם־פֹּעֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃
Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

מי יקום לי. זכות מי יעמד לנו בין המריעים הללו:
לוּלֵי יְהֹוָה עֶזְרָתָה לִּי כִּמְעַט ׀ שָׁכְנָה דוּמָה נַפְשִֽׁי׃

היחברך כסא הוות. היוכל להדמות לך האומות היוצרים צלמים ומסכות של עמל:
עלי חק. בשביל חק להיותו חק להם עבודתם:
יָגוֹדּוּ עַל־נֶפֶשׁ צַדִּיק וְדָם נָקִי יַרְשִֽׁיעוּ׃
They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

יגודו. יאספו גדודים על נפש צדיק להרוג:
ירשיעו. יחייבו בדין להורגו:
וַיְהִי יְהֹוָה לִי לְמִשְׂגָּב וֵאלֹהַי לְצוּר מַחְסִֽי׃
