כִּי כֹה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה אַף כִּֽי־אַרְבַּעַת שְׁפָטַי ׀ הָרָעִים חֶרֶב וְרָעָב וְחַיָּה רָעָה וָדֶבֶר שִׁלַּחְתִּי אֶל־יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם לְהַכְרִית מִמֶּנָּה אָדָם וּבְהֵמָֽה׃
For thus says the Lord God; How much more when I send my four severe judgments upon Yerushalayim, namely the sword, and the famine, and the evil beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

וְהִנֵּה נֽוֹתְרָה־בָּהּ פְּלֵטָה הַֽמּוּצָאִים בָּנִים וּבָנוֹת הִנָּם יוֹצְאִים אֲלֵיכֶם וּרְאִיתֶם אֶת־דַּרְכָּם וְאֶת־עֲלִילוֹתָם וְנִחַמְתֶּם עַל־הָרָעָה אֲשֶׁר הֵבֵאתִי עַל־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם אֵת כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר הֵבֵאתִי עָלֶֽיהָ׃
Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant to be brought out, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come out to you, and you shall see their way and their doings: and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Yerushalayim, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

עלילותם. מעשיהם:
וְנִחֲמוּ אֶתְכֶם כִּֽי־תִרְאוּ אֶת־דַּרְכָּם וְאֶת־עֲלִילוֹתָם וִידַעְתֶּם כִּי לֹא חִנָּם עָשִׂיתִי אֵת כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתִי בָהּ נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִֽה׃ {פ}
And they shall console you, when you see their ways and their doings: and you shall know that not without cause have I done all that I have done in it, says the Lord God.

אף כי. לשון קל וחומר וכ"ש הוא וכן בכל המקרא כגון הנה אנחנו פה ביהודה יראים (שמואל א כ״ג:ג׳) ואף כי נלך קעילה וכן בפרשה זו (יחזקאל ט״ו:ה׳) הנה בהיותו תמים לא יעשה למלאכה אף כי אש אכלתהו וכו':
