כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה הָסִיר הַמִּצְנֶפֶת וְהָרִים הָעֲטָרָה זֹאת לֹא־זֹאת הַשָּׁפָלָה הַגְבֵּהַּ וְהַגָּבֹהַּ הַשְׁפִּֽיל׃
thus says the Lord God; Remove the turban, and take off the crown: this shall not remain the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.

הגבה וגו'. גדליה בר אחיקם דלאו הוה דיליה יסבונה וצדקיהו דדיליה היא תעדי מיניה:
עַוָּה עַוָּה עַוָּה אֲשִׂימֶנָּה גַּם־זֹאת לֹא הָיָה עַד־בֹּא אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ הַמִּשְׁפָּט וּנְתַתִּֽיו׃ {פ}
A ruin, a ruin, a ruin will I make of it. For all that it shall not be, until he come, whose right it is, and whom I have appointed.

עוה עוה. לשון עי השדה לשון חורבה אחר חורבה פעמים ושלש אשימנה כבר ניטלה מיכניה ונתנה לצדקיה ומצדקיה תנתן לגדליה הרי שתי' ומנחם חבר עוה עם עותה ושתי המלכה (אסתר א׳:ט״ז) העוינו והרשענו (תהלים קו):
גם זאת לא היה. גם לגדליה לא תתקיים עד בא ישמעאל בן נתניה:
אשר לו המשפט. אשר עליו שמתי להפרע נקמתי ומשפטי:
ונתתיו. בידו:
הסיר המצנפת וגו'. כתרגומו אעדי מצנפתא משריה כהנא רבא ואבטל כתרא מצדקיה מלכא אמר דין ודין באתריה לא יתקיים:
