וַיְהִי דְבַר־יְהֹוָה אֵלַי לֵאמֹֽר׃
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

בֶּן־אָדָם שִׂים פָּנֶיךָ אֶל־צִידוֹן וְהִנָּבֵא עָלֶֽיהָ׃
Son of man, set thy face against Żidon, and prophesy against it,

וְאָמַרְתָּ כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה הִנְנִי עָלַיִךְ צִידוֹן וְנִכְבַּדְתִּי בְּתוֹכֵךְ וְֽיָדְעוּ כִּֽי־אֲנִי יְהֹוָה בַּעֲשׂוֹתִי בָהּ שְׁפָטִים וְנִקְדַּשְׁתִּי בָֽהּ׃
and say, Thus says the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Żidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.

וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי־בָהּ דֶּבֶר וָדָם בְּחוּצוֹתֶיהָ וְנִפְלַל חָלָל בְּתוֹכָהּ בְּחֶרֶב עָלֶיהָ מִסָּבִיב וְיָדְעוּ כִּי־אֲנִי יְהֹוָֽה׃
For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall fall in heaps in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

ונפלל. כמו לא פללתי (בראשית מ"ח) לא סברית וכמו ואויבינו פלילים (דברים ל״ב:ל״א) ידונו עצמם להיות חללים בתוכה:
וְלֹא־יִהְיֶה עוֹד לְבֵית יִשְׂרָאֵל סִלּוֹן מַמְאִיר וְקוֹץ מַכְאִב מִכֹּל סְבִיבֹתָם הַשָּׁאטִים אוֹתָם וְיָדְעוּ כִּי אֲנִי אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִֽה׃ {פ}
And there shall be no more a pricking brier to the house of Yisra᾽el, nor a thorn to give pain, among all those that are round about that disdain them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

ולא יהיה עוד לבית ישראל וגו'. לפי שניבא על עמון ומואב ופלשתים ואדום וצור וצידון שהם שכיני ארץ ישראל שיחרבו ומאחר שיאבדו כולן לא יהיה סילון וקוץ לישראל בכל סביבות' שיכאיבם ושירע להם:
סילון. מין קמשונים וחוחים הוא:
ממאיר. ענין הכאבה כמו צרעת ממארת (ויקרא י״ג:נ״א) פוניינ"ט בלע"ז:
השאטים אותם. הבוזים אותם:
ונפלל חלל בתוכה בחרב עליה מסביב. על אשר יראו החרב מסביב בחוץ יפלו יושבי העיר ויהיו בטוחים להיות חללים בתוכה:
