וַיְהִי כִשְׁמֹעַ אֲדֹנִי־צֶדֶק מֶלֶךְ יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם כִּֽי־לָכַד יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶת־הָעַי וַיַּחֲרִימָהּ כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לִֽירִיחוֹ וּלְמַלְכָּהּ כֵּן־עָשָׂה לָעַי וּלְמַלְכָּהּ וְכִי הִשְׁלִימוּ יֹשְׁבֵי גִבְעוֹן אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּֽהְיוּ בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃
Now it came to pass, when Adoni-żedeq king of Yerushalayim had heard how Yehoshua had taken ῾Ay, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Yeriĥo and her king, so he had done to ῾Ay and her king; and how the inhabitants of Giv῾on had made peace with Yisra᾽el, and were among them;

וַיִּֽירְאוּ מְאֹד כִּי עִיר גְּדוֹלָה גִּבְעוֹן כְּאַחַת עָרֵי הַמַּמְלָכָה וְכִי הִיא גְדוֹלָה מִן־הָעַי וְכׇל־אֲנָשֶׁיהָ גִּבֹּרִֽים׃

עֲלוּ־אֵלַי וְעִזְרֻנִי וְנַכֶּה אֶת־גִּבְעוֹן כִּי־הִשְׁלִימָה אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְאֶת־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

וַיֵּאָסְפוּ וַֽיַּעֲלוּ חֲמֵשֶׁת ׀ מַלְכֵי הָאֱמֹרִי מֶלֶךְ יְרֽוּשָׁלַ͏ִם מֶֽלֶךְ־חֶבְרוֹן מֶֽלֶךְ־יַרְמוּת מֶלֶךְ־לָכִישׁ מֶלֶךְ־עֶגְלוֹן הֵם וְכׇל־מַחֲנֵיהֶם וַֽיַּחֲנוּ עַל־גִּבְעוֹן וַיִּֽלָּחֲמוּ עָלֶֽיהָ׃
Therefore the five kings of the Emori, the king of Yerushalayim, the king of Ḥevron, the king of Yarmut, the king of Lakhish, the king of ῾Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Giv῾on and made war against it.

וַיִּשְׁלְחוּ אַנְשֵׁי גִבְעוֹן אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶה הַגִּלְגָּלָה לֵאמֹר אַל־תֶּרֶף יָדֶיךָ מֵעֲבָדֶיךָ עֲלֵה אֵלֵינוּ מְהֵרָה וְהוֹשִׁיעָה לָּנוּ וְעׇזְרֵנוּ כִּי נִקְבְּצוּ אֵלֵינוּ כׇּל־מַלְכֵי הָאֱמֹרִי יֹשְׁבֵי הָהָֽר׃
And the men of Giv῾on sent to Yehoshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Do not withdraw thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Emori that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

וַיַּעַל יְהוֹשֻׁעַ מִן־הַגִּלְגָּל הוּא וְכׇל־עַם הַמִּלְחָמָה עִמּוֹ וְכֹל גִּבּוֹרֵי הֶחָֽיִל׃ {פ}
