לָכֵן שִׁמְעוּ דְבַר־יְהֹוָה אַנְשֵׁי לָצוֹן מֹֽשְׁלֵי הָעָם הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, scornful men, that rule this people which is in Yerushalayim.

כִּי אֲמַרְתֶּם כָּרַתְנֽוּ בְרִית אֶת־מָוֶת וְעִם־שְׁאוֹל עָשִׂינוּ חֹזֶה (שיט) [שׁוֹט] שׁוֹטֵף כִּי־[יַֽעֲבֹר] (עבר) לֹא יְבוֹאֵנוּ כִּי שַׂמְנוּ כָזָב מַחְסֵנוּ וּבַשֶּׁקֶר נִסְתָּֽרְנוּ׃ {פ}
Because you have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with She᾽ol are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come to us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

כרתנו ברית את מות. שלא יבא עלינו:
עשינו חוזה. גבול שלא יעברנהו וכן מחוז חפצם (תהילים ק״ז:ל׳) וכן מחזה אל מחזה (מלכים א ז׳:ה׳) כולם ל' גבול הם וחיצונו של דבר אשומיי"ר בלע"ז:
שיט שוטף. מכה המתהלכת בארץ:
לא יבואנו. לא יבא עלינו:
שמנו כזב. שמנו ע"א:
מחסנו. מחסה שלנו:
ובשקר נסתרנו. בע"א בטחנו להסתירנו:
משלי העם הזה. האומרים לצון בל' משל כגון:
