כִּי כֹה אָֽמַר־יְהֹוָה בּוֹרֵא הַשָּׁמַיִם הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים יֹצֵר הָאָרֶץ וְעֹשָׂהּ הוּא כֽוֹנְנָהּ לֹא־תֹהוּ בְרָאָהּ לָשֶׁבֶת יְצָרָהּ אֲנִי יְהֹוָה וְאֵין עֽוֹד׃
For thus says the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he has established it, he did not create it a waste land, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.

לֹא בַסֵּתֶר דִּבַּרְתִּי בִּמְקוֹם אֶרֶץ חֹשֶׁךְ לֹא אָמַרְתִּי לְזֶרַע יַעֲקֹב תֹּהוּ בַקְּשׁוּנִי אֲנִי יְהֹוָה דֹּבֵר צֶדֶק מַגִּיד מֵישָׁרִֽים׃
I have not spoken in secret, in a place of a land of darkness: I said not to the seed of Ya῾aqov, Seek me in an empty waste: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

לא בסתר דברתי. כשנתתי את התורה ולא אמרתי על תהו על חנם: לזרע יעקב בקשוני כי אם לקבל שכר גדול:
אני ה' דובר צדק. מאחר שפתחתי להם בדבר צדקי להודיעם מתן שכרן אחר כן הגדתי להם מישרים חוקי ותורתי שקודם מתן תורה נאמר להם (שמות יא) ועתה אם שמוע וגו' והייתם לי סגולה וממלכת כהנים וגו':
הִקָּבְצוּ וָבֹאוּ הִֽתְנַגְּשׁוּ יַחְדָּו פְּלִיטֵי הַגּוֹיִם לֹא יָדְעוּ הַנֹּֽשְׂאִים אֶת־עֵץ פִּסְלָם וּמִֽתְפַּלְלִים אֶל־אֵל לֹא יוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, you that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge, those that carry about their wooden carved idol, and pray to a god that cannot save.

התנגשו. לשון הגשה והנו"ן טפילה בו כאשר יאמר התנגפו:
פליטי הגוים. אשר נשארו מחרבו של נבוכדנצר:
לא ידעו הנושאים את עץ פסלם. להבין דעת:
הַגִּידוּ וְהַגִּישׁוּ אַף יִֽוָּעֲצוּ יַחְדָּו מִי הִשְׁמִיעַ זֹאת מִקֶּדֶם מֵאָז הִגִּידָהּ הֲלוֹא אֲנִי יְהֹוָה וְאֵֽין־עוֹד אֱלֹהִים מִבַּלְעָדַי אֵל־צַדִּיק וּמוֹשִׁיעַ אַיִן זוּלָתִֽי׃
Declare and bring them near; let them take counsel together: who declared this from ancient time? who told it from that time? did not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a deliverer; there is none beside me.

השמיע זאת מקדם. מי בפסיליכם אשר השמיע מקדם להביא אלהיכם תשועה איש איש לעובדיו:
הלא אני ה' ואין עוד. שאני מודיע מה אני עתיד לעשות לעמי ואקיים דברי:
פְּנוּ־אֵלַי וְהִוָּשְׁעוּ כׇּל־אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץ כִּי אֲנִי־אֵל וְאֵין עֽוֹד׃

פנו אלי. והניחו פסילכם כל אפסי ארץ ובכך תושעו:
בִּי נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי יָצָא מִפִּי צְדָקָה דָּבָר וְלֹא יָשׁוּב כִּי־לִי תִּכְרַע כׇּל־בֶּרֶךְ תִּשָּׁבַע כׇּל־לָשֽׁוֹן׃
I have sworn by myself, a word of righteousness is gone out of my mouth, a word that shall not be reversed, That to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

בי נשבעתי. ויצא מפי צדקה לקבל כל השבים אלי דבר דברתי ולא ישוב מהו הצדקה אשר יצאת מפי כי לי תכרע כל ברך ואני אקבלם כענין שנאמר כי אז אהפוך אל עמים וגו' (צפניה ג׳:ט׳):
אַךְ בַּיהֹוָה לִי אָמַר צְדָקוֹת וָעֹז עָדָיו יָבוֹא וְיֵבֹשׁוּ כֹּל הַנֶּחֱרִים בּֽוֹ׃

אך בה' לי אמר. המקרא זה מסורס וכן פתרונו אך לי בה' אמר צדקות ועוז אע"פ שכל הגוים ישתחוו לפניו אך לי לבדי כנסת ישראל בה' הובטח לי צדקות ועוז ולא יבאו מכחישי תורה לחלל כבודי:
עדיו יבוא ויבשו וגו'. כל הנחרים בהקב"ה יבואו עדיו להתחרט על מה שעשו בחייהם ויבושו:

בַּיהֹוָה יִצְדְּקוּ וְיִֽתְהַלְלוּ כׇּל־זֶרַע יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

בה' יצדקו ויתהללו. בהבטחת משען אהבתו ימצאו צדקה ויתפארו במעוז

כָּרַע בֵּל קֹרֵס נְבוֹ הָיוּ עֲצַבֵּיהֶם לַחַיָּה וְלַבְּהֵמָה נְשֻׂאֹתֵיכֶם עֲמוּסוֹת מַשָּׂא לַעֲיֵפָֽה׃
Bel bows down, Nevo stoops, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle; the things you carry are laden as a burden on the weary beast.

כרע בל קורס נבו. אלהותיהם של בבל כרעו קרסו ל' שחוק של עכו"ם הוא כמי שיש לו חולי מעים ואינו מספיק לישב על מושב בה"כ עד שהוא נתרז:

היו עצביהם. צלמי צורתם של בל ונבו היו לחיה ולבהמה נדמו להיות כחיה וכבהמה שמזהימין ומלכלכין עצמן ברעי שלהם:
נשואותיכם עמוסות משא. רעי שבמעיהם כבדות הם לעמוס כמשא לאדם עיף לפיכך קרסו כרעו יחדיו הקריסה עם הכריעה:
קָרְסוּ כָֽרְעוּ יַחְדָּו לֹא יָכְלוּ מַלֵּט מַשָּׂא וְנַפְשָׁם בַּשְּׁבִי הָלָֽכָה׃ {פ}

לא יכלו מלט משא. להפליט הצואה שבמעיהם כשאר המוציאין כהוגן:
מלט. ל' הוצאה ממקום בלוע וכן (לעיל לד) שמה קננה קפוז ותמלט, הוציאה ביצתה וכן (לקמן סו) והמליטה זכר ויונתן לא תירגם כן המקראות הללו:
לא תוהו בראה. כי לשבת יצרה:
