הִתְעוֹרְרִי הִֽתְעוֹרְרִי קוּמִי יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם אֲשֶׁר שָׁתִית מִיַּד יְהֹוָה אֶת־כּוֹס חֲמָתוֹ אֶת־קֻבַּעַת כּוֹס הַתַּרְעֵלָה שָׁתִית מָצִֽית׃
Awake, awake, stand up, O Yerushalayim, who hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his fury; thou hast drunk to the dregs, the deep bowl of staggering.

התרעלה. הוא משקה המטמטם ומתיש כח האדם כאסור וקשור ומעוטף כמו הברושים הרעלו (נחום ב׳:ד׳) והשרות והרעלות שהוא לשון עיטוף ובמס' שבת מדיות רעולו' מין סרבל נאה להתעטף בו

אֵין־מְנַהֵל לָהּ מִכׇּל־בָּנִים יָלָדָה וְאֵין מַחֲזִיק בְּיָדָהּ מִכׇּל־בָּנִים גִּדֵּֽלָה׃

These two things have befallen thee; who shall console thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?

שתים הנה קראתיך. צרות כפולות שתים שתים:
מי אנחמך. מי אביא לך לנחמך ולומר אף אומה פלונית היא לקתה דוגמתך:
בָּנַיִךְ עֻלְּפוּ שָׁכְבוּ בְּרֹאשׁ כׇּל־חוּצוֹת כְּתוֹא מִכְמָר הַֽמְלֵאִים חֲמַת־יְהֹוָה גַּעֲרַת אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ׃

עולפו. לשון עייפות כמו (עמוס ח׳:י״ג) תתעלפנה הבתולות בצמא פשמי"ר בלע"ז:
כתוא מכמר. הפקר כתוא זה שנפל למכמר, תוא כמו ותאו וזמר (דברי' יד):
לָכֵן שִׁמְעִי־נָא זֹאת עֲנִיָּה וּשְׁכֻרַת וְלֹא מִיָּֽיִן׃ {פ}
