וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֶֽל־יְשַֽׁעְיָהוּ צֵא־נָא לִקְרַאת אָחָז אַתָּה וּשְׁאָר יָשׁוּב בְּנֶךָ אֶל־קְצֵה תְּעָלַת הַבְּרֵכָה הָעֶלְיוֹנָה אֶל־מְסִלַּת שְׂדֵה כוֹבֵֽס׃
Then said the Lord to Yesha῾yahu, Go out now to meet Aĥaz, thou, and She᾽ar-yashuv thy son, at the end of the aqueduct of the upper pool in the highway of the washers’ field;

אל קצה תעלת. שם תמצאהו תעלת פושי"ר בלע"ז:
ברכה. כעין מקוה מים שעושים לדגים:
העליונה. במורד ההר ויש ברכה אחרת למטה הימנה בתחתיתו:
שדה כובס. שדה שהכובסים שוטחים שם בגדים לנגבם כך תירגם יונתן ורבותינו דרשו נכנע אחז לפני ישעיהו ושם על ראשו אוכלא דקצרי כפה עליו כלי פי' כלי מנוקב של כובסים שמזלפין בו מים על הבגדים:
וְאָמַרְתָּ אֵלָיו הִשָּׁמֵר וְהַשְׁקֵט אַל־תִּירָא וּלְבָֽבְךָ אַל־יֵרַךְ מִשְּׁנֵי זַנְבוֹת הָאוּדִים הָעֲשֵׁנִים הָאֵלֶּה בׇּחֳרִי־אַף רְצִין וַאֲרָם וּבֶן־רְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃
and say to him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted on account of the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Reżin and Aram, and of the son of Remalyahu.

השמר. שב בשלום כיין על שמריו:
זנבות האודים העשנים. יהיו בעיניך כזנבות אודים שכבתה שלהבת שלהם אודים טיצונ"ש בלעז:
יַעַן כִּֽי־יָעַץ עָלֶיךָ אֲרָם רָעָה אֶפְרַיִם וּבֶן־רְמַלְיָהוּ לֵאמֹֽר׃
Because Aram, Efrayim, and the son of Remalyahu, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,

Let us go up against Yehuda, and harass it, and let us make a breach in it for us, and set a king in the midst of it, namely the son of Tave᾽all:

ונקיצנה. נעוררה במלחמה:
ונבקיענה אלינו. נשוה אותה עמיו כבקעה זו שהיא שוה וכן ת"י ונשוינון עמנא, שיהיו שוין עם עשרת השבטים במלך אחד:
את בן טבאל. בן הטוב אלינו כן ת"י ויש לפרש טוב אל אשר לא טוב בעיני המקום ובגימט' של אותות אלב"ם טבאל הוא רמלא ט"ר ב"ם א"ל בן טבאל בן רמלא:
ושאר ישוב בנך. שארית מעט שישובו אלי על ידך והם כבנך:
