כֹּה אָמַר יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת הִנֵּה רָעָה יֹצֵאת מִגּוֹי אֶל־גּוֹי וְסַעַר גָּדוֹל יֵעוֹר מִיַּרְכְּתֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃
Thus says the Lord of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great stormwind shall be raised up from the far ends of the earth.

מירכתי. כתרגומו מסיפי:
וְהָיוּ חַֽלְלֵי יְהֹוָה בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא מִקְצֵה הָאָרֶץ וְעַד־קְצֵה הָאָרֶץ לֹא יִסָּפְדוּ וְלֹא יֵאָֽסְפוּ וְלֹא יִקָּבֵרוּ לְדֹמֶן עַל־פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה יִֽהְיֽוּ׃
And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.

הֵילִילוּ הָרֹעִים וְזַעֲקוּ וְהִֽתְפַּלְּשׁוּ אַדִּירֵי הַצֹּאן כִּי־מָלְאוּ יְמֵיכֶם לִטְבוֹחַ וּתְפוֹצוֹתִיכֶם וּנְפַלְתֶּם כִּכְלִי חֶמְדָּֽה׃

הילילו. ל' יללה:
והתפלשו. התגיוגלו בעפר ווטרליי"ר בלע"ז:
ותפוצותיכם. הרי זה מקרא קצר כלומ' ותפוצותיכם תקרבנה לבא:
ככלי חמדה. כלומר אם תאמרו חשובים אנחנו הרבה יש כלי חמדה של זכוכית נופלים ומשתברים ואובדים:
וְאָבַד מָנוֹס מִן־הָרֹעִים וּפְלֵיטָה מֵאַדִּירֵי הַצֹּֽאן׃

A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and a howling of the chief of the flock, shall be heard: for the Lord has ruined their pasture.

ונדמו. ל' חורבה לשון הדימנו, ונדמה שם (לעיל ח):
עָזַב כַּכְּפִיר סֻכּוֹ כִּֽי־הָיְתָה אַרְצָם לְשַׁמָּה מִפְּנֵי חֲרוֹן הַיּוֹנָה וּמִפְּנֵי חֲרוֹן אַפּֽוֹ׃ {פ}
