נֻדוּ מִתּוֹךְ בָּבֶל וּמֵאֶרֶץ כַּשְׂדִּים (יצאו) [צֵאוּ] וִֽהְיוּ כְּעַתּוּדִים לִפְנֵי־צֹֽאן׃
Flee out of the midst of Bavel, and depart from the land of the Kasdim, and be as the he goats before the flocks.

כעתודים לפני צאן. דרך העתודים ללכת לפני העדר בראש העזים:
כִּי הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי מֵעִיר וּמַעֲלֶה עַל־בָּבֶל קְהַל־גּוֹיִם גְּדֹלִים מֵאֶרֶץ צָפוֹן וְעָרְכוּ לָהּ מִשָּׁם תִּלָּכֵד חִצָּיו כְּגִבּוֹר מַשְׁכִּיל לֹא יָשׁוּב רֵיקָֽם׃
For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Bavel an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall array themselves against her; from there she shall be taken: their arrows shall be like those of a death dealing warrior; none shall return in vain.

וערכו לה. ויסדרון עלה קרב:
וְהָיְתָה כַשְׂדִּים לְשָׁלָל כׇּל־שֹׁלְלֶיהָ יִשְׂבָּעוּ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃

בּוֹשָׁה אִמְּכֶם מְאֹד חָפְרָה יוֹלַדְתְּכֶם הִנֵּה אַחֲרִית גּוֹיִם מִדְבָּר צִיָּה וַעֲרָבָֽה׃

ונתנה ידה. כאדם שאין בו כח ומושיט יד לכל מי שרואה לבקש רחמים ועזרה וכן מצרים נתנו יד (שם ה) הושטנו יד למצרים לבקש מהם עזרה:
אשיותיה. חוזק יסודותיה וכן ואשיא יחיטו (עזרא ד׳:י״ב) ובלשון משנה כגון אלו התופרים לאושין וכן והתאוששו והתחזקו:
