גׇּזִּי נִזְרֵךְ וְֽהַשְׁלִיכִי וּשְׂאִי עַל־שְׁפָיִם קִינָה כִּי מָאַס יְהֹוָה וַיִּטֹּשׁ אֶת־דּוֹר עֶבְרָתֽוֹ׃
Cut off thy hair, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the high hills; for the Lord has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

כִּי־עָשׂוּ בְנֵי־יְהוּדָה הָרַע בְּעֵינַי נְאֻם־יְהֹוָה שָׂמוּ שִׁקּוּצֵיהֶם בַּבַּיִת אֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָֽא־שְׁמִי עָלָיו לְטַמְּאֽוֹ׃
For the children of Yehuda have done evil in my sight, says the Lord: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.

במות התופת. הוא המולך שהיה של נחשת ומסיקין אותו מתחתיו וידיו פשוטות וניסקות ונותנין את הילד על ידיו והוא נכוה ונוהם והכומרים היו מקישין בתופים שלא ישמע האב קול הבן ויכמרו רחמיו, תופת על שם התוף:
הנם. על שם נהמת הבן:
לא צויתי. במצות שיקריבו בניהם לקרבן ולא דברתי לאחד מן הנביאים וכשדברתי לאברהם לשחוט את בנו לא עלתה על לבי שישחוט אלא להודיע צדקו:
גזי נזרך. תלשי שערך כמו ויגז שלוים (שם ט) ויגז את ראשו (איוב א׳:כ׳) ל"א נזרך כתרך ל' גדולה וכן תרגם יונתן רברביך וכן חיברו מנחם:
