אָסֹף אֲסִיפֵם נְאֻם־יְהֹוָה אֵין עֲנָבִים בַּגֶּפֶן וְאֵין תְּאֵנִים בַּתְּאֵנָה וְהֶעָלֶה נָבֵל וָאֶתֵּן לָהֶם יַעַבְרֽוּם׃
I will surely consume them, says the Lord: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.

אין ענבים בגפן. לא יותר דבר:
והעלה נבל. ל' כמוש פליישטי"ש בלעז כמו וכנובלת מתאנה (ישעיהו ל״ד:ד׳) כאלה נובלת עליה (שם א):
ואתן להם יעברום. כל זאת תהיה להם על כי נתתי להם חוקים ועברו עליהם:
עַל־מָה אֲנַחְנוּ יֹֽשְׁבִים הֵאָסְפוּ וְנָבוֹא אֶל־עָרֵי הַמִּבְצָר וְנִדְּמָה־שָּׁם כִּי יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ הֲדִמָּנוּ וַיַּשְׁקֵנוּ מֵי־רֹאשׁ כִּי חָטָאנוּ לַיהֹוָֽה׃
Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be cut off there: for the Lord our God has cut us off, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the Lord.

ונדמה שם. ונדום שם, נשב שם דומים ואבלים:
מי ראש. כס דלווט ביש כרישי חיון ראש פתנים הוא ארס שבשיניו:
קַוֵּה לְשָׁלוֹם וְאֵין טוֹב לְעֵת מַרְפֵּה וְהִנֵּה בְעָתָֽה׃

מצהלות אביריו. צהלות משחק סוסיו ומצינו במקום אחר סוסים נקראים אבירים מדהרות דהרות אביריו (שופטים ה׳:כ״ב) ל' סוס דוהר (נחום ג) וי"ת מקל פסיעות גברוהי:
אסוף אסיפם. ל' כלייה כמו אסוף אסף כל מעל פני האדמה (צפניה א׳:ב׳):
