וְאֵלֶּה נוּלְּדוּ־לוֹ בִּירוּשָׁלָיִם שִׁמְעָא וְשׁוֹבָב וְנָתָן וּשְׁלֹמֹה אַרְבָּעָה לְבַת־שׁוּעַ בַּת־עַמִּיאֵֽל׃
And these were born to him in Yerushalayim; Shim῾a, and Shovav, and Natan, and Shelomo; four, of Bat-Shua the daughter of Ammi᾽el:

ואלישמע ואליפלט. ואלידע ואליפלט, בשמואל (שמואל ב ה׳:ט״ז) אינו מונה אליפלט אלא פעם אחת ואינו מונה כי אם ז' וכאן מונה ט' וזהו טעמא אליפלט בנו מת ונולד לו בן אחר לאחר כן ונקרא שמו כמו כן אליפלט שהיה הוא שמנה לשם וגם אלישמע מונה כאן ב' פעמים כמו כן נוכל לומר שמת ונולד לו אחר וגם א' מאלו מת ונשארו שבעה וזה שאינו מונה לשם כי אם שבעה והט' שמונה משום כבודו של דוד שהיו לו בנים הרבה שהרי כל הספר נכתב מפני כבודו של דוד וזרעו:
