מחשיך עצה. עצה חשיכה וסכלה, ד"א מי זה מחשיך עצה בלי דעת, אמר הקב"ה מי זה הוא מחשיך עצה מקלקל במילים וברוב דברים שכתבתי איש תם וישר בתחילת הספר כדי לחול שמי עליו והוא בא והחשיך וקילקל מה שיעצתי ברוב דבריו ואיוב ענהו מי זה מעלים עצה (לקמן מב) אילו הייתי יודע עצתך לא הייתי מרבה בדברים והקב"ה השיבו והלא אברהם לא היה יודע ועמד בעשר כך מצאתי:
אֱזׇר־נָא כְגֶבֶר חֲלָצֶיךָ וְאֶשְׁאָלְךָ וְהוֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃

אזר נא כגבר חלציך. רמז לו שיתעורר מן חלייו ויסוריו:

לֶאֱחֹז בְּכַנְפוֹת הָאָרֶץ וְיִנָּעֲרוּ רְשָׁעִים מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

מי פלג לשטף תעלה. בערביא קורין לשערה שיטפא כל שיער ושיער שבראש פלגתי לו תעלה גומא לינק ממנה שאילו שנים יונקות מגומא אחת מחשיכות מאור עיניו של אדם והם לא נתחלפו לי בין איוב לאויב נתחלף לי וזהו מן הסערה ד"א לשטף טיפת גשם שוטף פילגתי לכל טיפה גומא בעבים שאילו יורדות ב' טפות מגומא אחת מטשטשות את הארץ ונעשי' טיט:
ודרך לחזיז קולות. מי פלג כל קול וקול יש לו שביל ואם שנים הולכים בשביל אחד אין הבריות סובלות את הקול:
לְהַמְטִיר עַל־אֶרֶץ לֹא־אִישׁ מִדְבָּר לֹא־אָדָם בּֽוֹ׃

הֲיָדַעְתָּ חֻקּוֹת שָׁמָיִם אִם־תָּשִׂים מִשְׁטָרוֹ בָאָֽרֶץ׃

למו ארב. לארוב כן דרך האורבי' לשוח ולכוף עצמן כדי שלא יכירו בהם:
מִי יָכִין לָעֹרֵב צֵידוֹ כִּֽי־יְלָדָו אֶל־אֵל יְשַׁוֵּעוּ יִתְעוּ לִבְלִי־אֹֽכֶל׃

מן הסערה. מנה שערות שלך ואשיבך דברים כנגדן, מן הסערה שחרפתני אשר בסערה ישופני (לעיל ט) ממנה אשיב לך כאשר תשמע בסוף הענין מי פלג לשטף תעלה גומא לכל שער ד"א בסערה הכהו בסערה רפאהו כדמפרש בספרי:
