וְהַלְוִיִּם יֵשׁוּעַ בִּנּוּי קַדְמִיאֵל שֵׁרֵבְיָה יְהוּדָה מַתַּנְיָה עַֽל־הֻיְּדוֹת הוּא וְאֶחָֽיו׃
And the Levites: Yeshua, Binui, Kadmiel, Sherevyah, Yehudah, Matanyah over huydoth [(types of musical instruments)], he and his brethren.

וּבַקְבֻּֽקְיָה (וענו) [וְעֻנִּי] אֲחֵיהֶם לְנֶגְדָּם לְמִשְׁמָרֽוֹת׃

למשמרות. כמו שמצינו (בדברי הימים א' כ"ד ואילך) שהלוים היו חלוקים לעשרים וארבעה משמרות:
in the watches as we find (in I Chronicles from ch. 24 on) that the Levites were divided into twenty- four watches.
וְיֵשׁוּעַ הוֹלִיד אֶת־יֽוֹיָקִים וְיֽוֹיָקִים הוֹלִיד אֶת־אֶלְיָשִׁיב וְאֶלְיָשִׁיב אֶת־יוֹיָדָֽע׃
And Yeshua begot Yoyakim, and Yoyakim begot Elyashiv, and Elyashiv begot Yoyada [(All of these were high-priests.)]

וישוע הוליד את יויקים וגו'. כל אלו שבמקרא זה היו כהנים גדולים:
Now Jeshua begot Joiakim, etc. All those [listed] in this verse were high priests.

And Yoyada begot Yonathan, and Yonathan begot Yadua.

וּבִימֵי יֽוֹיָקִים הָיוּ כֹהֲנִים רָאשֵׁי הָאָבוֹת לִשְׂרָיָה מְרָיָה לְיִרְמְיָה חֲנַנְיָֽה׃
And in the days of Yoyakim, [the following] priests were heads of fathers' [houses of their watches]. Of [the watch of] Serayah, Merayah [was head of the father's house]; of Yirmiyah, Chananyah.

ובימי יויקים. שהיה כהן גדול היו כהנים הללו הם היו ראשים ראשי בית אב למשמרותם:
And in the days of Joiakim who was the high priest. These priests were the leaders of the fathers’ houses of their watches.
לשריה מריה. למשמרת של שריה היה מריה ראש בית אב ולמשמרת של ירמיה היה חנניה ראש בית אב וכן כולם ואת אשר לא פירש כל העשרי' וארבע משמרות לא דקדק המקרא בכך למנותם כולם:
of Seraiah was Meraiah Of the watch of Seraiah, the head of the father’s house was Meraiah, and of the watch of Jeremiah, the head of the father’s house was Hananiah, and so it is with them all, and the reason Scripture did not list all twenty-four watches is that it is not exacting in enumerating them all.
לְעֶזְרָא מְשֻׁלָּם לַאֲמַרְיָה יְהוֹחָנָֽן׃

The [following] Levites [viz. 24] were recorded as heads of fathers' [houses in the watches of the Levites] in the days of [the high-priest] Elyashiv, Yoyada and Yochanan and Yadua, as were [also] the [aforementioned] priests, during the reign of Darius the Parsi.

הלוים בימי אלישיב. הלוים הללו היו ראשי בית אבות במשמרות הלוים בימי אלישיב הכהן הגדול והכהנים המנוין למעלה בסמוך הם היו ראשי בית אבות במשמרותם גם בימי אלישיב:
The Levites in the days of Eliashib These Levites were the heads of the fathers’ houses in the watches of the Levites in the days of Eliashib the High Priest, and the priests enumerated immediately above were the heads of the fathers’ houses in their watches, also in the days of Eliashib.
על מלכות. בימי מלכות דריוש היה דבר זה:
in the reign of This matter came about in the days of Darius.
הידות. מן כלי שיר לומר שירה:
huyedoth [This was] a type of musical instrument which accompanied the songs.
