אומלל. נשחת ודל כח (קופנדו"ן בלעז) כמו היהודים האמללים דעזרא (נחמיה ג׳:ל״ד):
וְנַפְשִׁי נִבְהֲלָה מְאֹד (ואת) [וְאַתָּה] יְהֹוָה עַד־מָתָֽי׃

כִּי אֵין בַּמָּוֶת זִכְרֶךָ בִּשְׁאוֹל מִי יֽוֹדֶה־לָּֽךְ׃

אשחה בכל לילה מטתי. לשון סחי ומאוס (איכ' ג) והיתה נבלתם כסוחה (ישעיהו ה׳:כ״ה) ממאס אני מטתי בדמעות ומנחם חברו עם כאשר יפרש השוחה לשחות (שם כה) ועם מי שחו (יחזקאל מז):
בדמעתי ערשי אמסה. אלחלח וארטיב כמו מים:
עָשְׁשָׁה מִכַּעַס עֵינִי עָתְקָה בְּכׇל־צוֹרְרָֽי׃

עששה. ל' עששית עין שמאורה כהה ודומה לו כאלו הוא רואה דרך זכוכית שכנגד עיניו ומנחם פירשו לשון רקבון כמו (לקמן לא) ועצמי עששו וכן כל לשון עש:
עתקה. נתישנה ונזדקנה עיני בכהיית אור ומנחם חברו עם ויעתק משם ההרה (בראשית י״ב:ח׳):
בכל צוררי. בשביל צרות שמצירין לי:
סוּרוּ מִמֶּנִּי כׇּל־פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן כִּֽי־שָׁמַע יְהֹוָה קוֹל בִּכְיִֽי׃

יבושו ויבהלו וגו'. מהו ישובו יבושו פעם שנייה אמר רבי יוחנן לעתיד לבוא הקב"ה דן את הרשעים ומחייבן לגיהנם והם מתרעמין עליו והקב"ה מחזירן וחוזר ומראה גיליונין שלהם ודן אותם ומתחייבין והוא מחזירן לגיהנם הרי בושה כפולה, ר' שמואל בר נחמני אומר לעתיד לבא כל אומה קוראה לאלהיה ואין עונה וחוזרין וקוראין להקב"ה ואומר להם אילו אלי קראתם תחילה הייתי עונה אתכם עכשיו עשיתם עבודת גלולים עיקר ואותי טפילה לפיכך איני עונה שנאמר ישועו ואין מושיע זו עבודת גלולים ואחר כך אל ה' ולא ענם (לקמן יח) לכך נאמר ישובו יבושו:
