הוֹדִינוּ לְּךָ ׀ אֱֽלֹהִים הוֹדִינוּ וְקָרוֹב שְׁמֶךָ סִפְּרוּ נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃
To Thee, O God, we give thanks; we give thanks; for Thy name is near; men declare Thy wondrous works.

הודינו לך אלהים. על הטובה הודינו אף על הרעה וקרוב בפינו שמך תמיד:
ספרו. דורותינו נפלאותיך תמיד:
כִּי אֶקַּח מוֹעֵד אֲנִי מֵישָׁרִים אֶשְׁפֹּֽט׃
Surely I shall take the appointed time; I will judge with equity.

כי אקח מועד. כשיש לנו יום טוב אין אנו עסוקים בנבול פה וקלות ראש:
אני מישרים אשפוט. אנו נותנין אל לבנו להללך ולשבחך מעין המאורע ליום:
נְֽמֹגִים אֶרֶץ וְכׇל־יֹשְׁבֶיהָ אָנֹכִי תִכַּנְתִּי עַמּוּדֶיהָ סֶּֽלָה׃

נמוגים ארץ וכל יושביה וגו'. ביום מתן תורה כשהיו נמוגים הארץ וכל יושביה מתנאי שהתנית עם מעשה בראשית אם לא יקבלו וכו' תחזרו לתוהו ובהו:
תכנתי עמודיה. כשאמרתי נעשה ונשמע:
אָמַרְתִּי לַהוֹלְלִים אַל־תָּהֹלּוּ וְלָרְשָׁעִים אַל־תָּרִימוּ קָֽרֶן׃
I said to the arrogant, Deal not arrogantly! and to the wicked, Lift not the horn.

להוללים. לרשעים המערבבים את ישראל:
אַל־תָּרִימוּ לַמָּרוֹם קַרְנְכֶם תְּדַבְּרוּ בְצַוָּאר עָתָֽק׃

כי לא ממוצא. השמש וממערבו ולא מן המדברות שאתם מפרשים בשיירא להרבות ממון לא בכל אלה להרים קרן:
כִּֽי־אֱלֹהִים שֹׁפֵט זֶה יַשְׁפִּיל וְזֶה יָרִֽים׃

כי אלהים שופט. על כל הרעה שעשיתם:
זה ישפיל וזה ירים. הגבוהים ישפיל והנמוכים ירים:
כִּי כוֹס בְּֽיַד־יְהֹוָה וְיַיִן חָמַר ׀ מָלֵא מֶסֶךְ וַיַּגֵּר מִזֶּה אַךְ־שְׁמָרֶיהָ יִמְצוּ יִשְׁתּוּ כֹּל רִשְׁעֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃
For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, with foaming wine; it is full of mixture; and he pours out of the same: but its dregs, shall all the wicked of the earth drain and drink.

כי כוס. התרעלה בידו:
ויין חמר. חזק ווינו"ש בלע"ז:
מלא מסך. הכוס מלא מזג למזוג ולהשקות את כל הגוים:
ויגר מזה. מזה הכוס יפיץ ויקלח את משתיהם ל' כמים מוגרים (מיכה א'):
וַאֲנִי אַגִּיד לְעֹלָם אֲזַמְּרָה לֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹֽב׃

ואני אגיד לעולם. מאז והלאה את נקמתו וגבורתו:
וְכׇל־קַרְנֵי רְשָׁעִים אֲגַדֵּעַ תְּרוֹמַמְנָה קַֽרְנוֹת צַדִּֽיק׃ {פ}

וכל קרני רשעים. של עמלק:
אגדע. כענין שנא' (יחזקאל כ״ה:י״ד) ונתתי את נקמתי באדום ביד עמי ישראל ישראל יגדעו קרן עמלק וגו' ואז תרוממנ' קרנות צדיקו של עולם ישראל שהם שבחו של הקב"ה:
אל תשחת. את ישראל:
