לָכֵן כֹּֽה־אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה חַלְלֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר שַׂמְתֶּם בְּתוֹכָהּ הֵמָּה הַבָּשָׂר וְהִיא הַסִּיר וְאֶתְכֶם הוֹצִיא מִתּוֹכָֽהּ׃
Therefore thus says the Lord God; Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it, they are the meat, and this city is the cauldron: but I will bring you out of the midst of it.

חֶרֶב יְרֵאתֶם וְחֶרֶב אָבִיא עֲלֵיכֶם נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִֽה׃

חרב יראתם. כשפניתם לעזרה למלך מצרים כמו שנאמר בצדקיהו וימרד בו לשלוח מלאכיו למצרי' (לקמן יו):
וְהוֹצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם מִתּוֹכָהּ וְנָתַתִּי אֶתְכֶם בְּיַד־זָרִים וְעָשִׂיתִי בָכֶם שְׁפָטִֽים׃
And I will bring you out of the midst of it, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.

You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you at the border of Yisra᾽el; and you shall know that I am the Lord.

על גבול ישראל. בסוף הגבול והיא רבלה ארץ חמת היא אנטוכיא שם נשפט צדקיהו ביד נבוכדנצר כמו שנא' בספר מלכים (מלכים ב כה) שם שחט את בניו שם נקר את עיניו והיא סוף הגבול שנא' במרגלים ובכמה מקומות עד לבא חמת (במדבר יג):
הִיא לֹֽא־תִהְיֶה לָכֶם לְסִיר וְאַתֶּם תִּהְיוּ בְתוֹכָהּ לְבָשָׂר אֶל־גְּבוּל יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶשְׁפֹּט אֶתְכֶֽם׃

לא תהיה לכם לסיר. המשמרת נתחיה עד גמר בישולם:
ואתם תהיו בתוכה לבשר. שחותכו בתוכה ותשברו בתוכה כבשר בסיר ובתוך קלחת:
אל גבול ישראל אשפוט אתכם. ולא בתוכה תמותו:
וִֽידַעְתֶּם כִּֽי־אֲנִי יְהֹוָה אֲשֶׁר בְּחֻקַּי לֹא הֲלַכְתֶּם וּמִשְׁפָּטַי לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶם וּֽכְמִשְׁפְּטֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶם עֲשִׂיתֶֽם׃

וַֽיְהִי כְּהִנָּבְאִי וּפְלַטְיָהוּ בֶן־בְּנָיָה מֵת וָאֶפֹּל עַל־פָּנַי וָאֶזְעַק קוֹל־גָּדוֹל וָֽאֹמַר אֲהָהּ אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה כָּלָה אַתָּה עֹשֶׂה אֵת שְׁאֵרִית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {פ}
And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatyahu the son of Benaya died. Then I fell down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord God! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Yisra᾽el?
