לָכֵן אֱמֹר ׀ אֶל־בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה שׁוּבוּ וְהָשִׁיבוּ מֵעַל גִּלּוּלֵיכֶם וּמֵעַל כׇּל־תּוֹעֲבֹתֵיכֶם הָשִׁיבוּ פְנֵיכֶֽם׃
Therefore say to the house of Yisra᾽el, Thus says the Lord God; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

והשיבו. את לבבכם:
מעל גלוליכם. אשר העליתם אל לבבכם:
השיבו פניכם. אשר שמתם מכשול עווניכם לנכחם:
כִּי אִישׁ אִישׁ מִבֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמֵהַגֵּר אֲשֶׁר־יָגוּר בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וְיִנָּזֵר מֵאַחֲרַי וְיַעַל גִּלּוּלָיו אֶל־לִבּוֹ וּמִכְשׁוֹל עֲוֺנוֹ יָשִׂים נֹכַח פָּנָיו וּבָא אֶל־הַנָּבִיא לִדְרׇשׁ־לוֹ בִי אֲנִי יְהֹוָה נַעֲנֶה־לּוֹ בִּֽי׃
For everyone of the house of Yisra᾽el, and of the stranger that sojourns in Yisra᾽el, who separates himself from me, and sets up his idols in his heart, and puts the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and comes to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the Lord will answer him by myself:

נענה לו בי. משתאל ליה במימרי אדרש לו:
וְנָתַתִּי פָנַי בָּאִישׁ הַהוּא וַהֲשִׂמֹתִיהוּ לְאוֹת וְלִמְשָׁלִים וְהִכְרַתִּיו מִתּוֹךְ עַמִּי וִידַעְתֶּם כִּי־אֲנִי יְהֹוָֽה׃ {ס}
and I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and you shall know that I am the Lord.
