כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה כּוֹס אֲחוֹתֵךְ תִּשְׁתִּי הָעֲמֻקָּה וְהָרְחָבָה תִּהְיֶה לִצְחֹק וּלְלַעַג מִרְבָּה לְהָכִֽיל׃
Thus says the Lord God; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup which is deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; for it contains much.

שִׁכָּרוֹן וְיָגוֹן תִּמָּלֵאִי כּוֹס שַׁמָּה וּשְׁמָמָה כּוֹס אֲחוֹתֵךְ שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃
Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and appalment, with the cup of thy sister Shomeron.

ושממה. תמהון:
וְשָׁתִית אוֹתָהּ וּמָצִית וְאֶת־חֲרָשֶׂיהָ תְּגָרֵמִי וְשָׁדַיִךְ תְּנַתֵּקִי כִּי אֲנִי דִבַּרְתִּי נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִֽה׃ {ס}
Thou shalt drink it and drain it out, and thou shalt break its fragments in pieces, and tear thy own breasts, for I have spoken it, says the Lord God.

ומצית. לשון מוצץ עד התמצית אישוצרא"ש בלע"ז:
ואת חרשיה. דימה כוס המשקה פורענות לישראל לכלי חרש שמשנשתבר אין לו תקנה כך משתבא תשועתם וישבר הכוס לא ישוב להשקותם עוד וכשהוא מדבר בהשקאת העכו"ם קורא אותו זהב שנאמר כוס זהב בבל ביד ה' המשכרת כל הארץ (ירמיהו נ״א:ז׳):
ואת חרשיה תגרמי. כמו ועצמותיהם יגרם (במדבר כ״ד:ח׳) לא גרמו לבקר (צפניה ג׳:ג׳) רונגייר בלע"ז גורר בשיניו את סביבות העצם או החרש לרדות מעליו בשר הדבוק בו ומנחם חברו לשון שבירה וגם כן פתר ועצמותיהם יגרם וכן לא גרמו לבקר:
