וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה כָּכָה יֹאכְלוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־לַחְמָם טָמֵא בַּגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר אַדִּיחֵם שָֽׁם׃
And the Lord said, Thus shall the children of Yisra᾽el eat their bread, unclean, among the nations, whither I will drive them.

וָאֹמַר אֲהָהּ אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה הִנֵּה נַפְשִׁי לֹא מְטֻמָּאָה וּנְבֵלָה וּטְרֵפָה לֹא־אָכַלְתִּי מִנְּעוּרַי וְעַד־עַתָּה וְלֹא־בָא בְּפִי בְּשַׂר פִּגּֽוּל׃ {ס}
Then I said, Ah Lord God, behold my soul has never been polluted: for from my youth up even till now I have not eaten that which dies of itself, or is torn by beasts, nor did loathsome meat ever come into my mouth.

אהה. לשון אנחה:
נפשי לא מטומאה. לא הרהרתי ביום ובאתי לידי טומאה בלילה:
נבילה וטריפה לא אכלתי. בשר מסוכנת שדומה לנבילה וטריפה:
בשר פיגול. בהמה שהורה בה חכם ולא יתכן לומר נבילה וטריפה ממש דאם כן מאי רבותיה:
