וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת הַשְּׁבָטִים מִקְצֵה צָפוֹנָה אֶל־יַד דֶּֽרֶךְ־חֶתְלֹן ׀ לְֽבוֹא־חֲמָת חֲצַר עֵינָן גְּבוּל דַּמֶּשֶׂק צָפוֹנָה אֶל־יַד חֲמָת וְהָיוּ־לוֹ פְאַת־קָדִים הַיָּם דָּן אֶחָֽד׃
Now these are the names of the tribes. From the north end beside the way to Ḥetlon, as one goes to Ḥamat, Ḥażar-῾enan, the border of Dammeseq northward beside Ḥamat; for these are his sides east and west; a portion for Dan.

מקצה צפונה. דן יטול מצר צפוני מחצר עינן שבמקצוע מזרח שהיא עד גבול דמשק (שבמקצוע מערב צפון, סא"א):
והיו לו פאת קדים הים. כלומר מפאת קדים ועד ים דן אחד הרי פירש האורך ולא פירש הרוחב ובברייתא דספרי בפרשת האזינו מה ת"ל יהודה א' דן א' אשר א' מלמד שעתידין ישראל ליטול אורך מן המזרח למערב ברוחב כ"ה אלף קנים שהם שבעים וחמשה מילין ומהיכן למדו השיעור הזה מן התרומה שהיא כאחד מן החלקי' הללו כמו שמפורש בענין מצאתי שכך כתוב ואורך כאח' החלקים, והוא רחב עשרים חמש אלף קנים ואורך מפאת ים עד פאת קדים כ"ה אלף קנים ק"ן אלף אמה שהקנה שש אמה וכל אלפים אמה מיל כמו שאנו למדין במסכת יומא אצל עשר סוכות שמירושלים ועד צוק הרי ק"נ אלף אמה עולין לשבעים וחמש מיל וזהו שיסד רבי אלעזר בפיוט (בסילוק דיום שני של סוכות) כי אקח מועד לעת חלוק ארצותי' כשורת הכרם לחוצותיה באורך מפאת קדים לקצותיה עד ים אוקיינוס למצותיה ברחב שבעים וחמשה מיל חריצותיה (וי"ג שבעים וחמשה מיל לי"ג רצועות בין רצועות השבטים ורצועות הקודש יעלו לט' מאות וע"ה מילין ולמנין ת' פרסה על ת' פרסה של א"י עולין המילין לשש עשר' מאות לסכום הקלירי שאמר ארבעת מילין היא פרסה ושמא מילין של חשבון הרצועות גדולים הם אין נכנסין ארבע' מהם בפרסה ואכן בא למנות שני מילין למחצית (ומחצה) בפרסה יעלו כד' מאות פרסה לאלף מילין וחשבון מילין של רצועה אין עולין אלא ט' מאו' וע"ה מילין עדיין חסר המניין כ"ה מילין לא כיון מניין מילין הרצועות של פ"ט למנין ד' מאות פרס' ומניין למד רבי אליעזר אורך השורות עד ים אוקיינוס שהוא בסוף עולם ומקרא מעיד תחום מערב עד ים הגדול שלפנים מים אוקיינוס הרבה):

תהיה התרומה וגו'. וא"ת היאך יתכן שתהא ירושלים במקומה והלא היתה ירושלים במיצר צפוני של יהודה שנטל דרומה של ארץ כנען וכאן הוא באמצע השבטים אין חלוקה זו דומה לחלוקת יהושע שזו כשורת הכרם וכל החלקים שוין וחלוק' יהושע היה שבט יהודה חלק גדול ואף כי (חלקו היה) רב ממנו עד שנטל שמעון בגורלו שנא' (יהושע י״ט:ט׳) מחבל בני יהודה נחלת בני שמעון לפיכך יש די עתה ברוחב חלק שנטל יהודה בימי יהושע ליטול בו חלק עכשיו ה' שבטים הנותרים לפי שהאורך גדול מאד מפאת קדים עד אוקיינוס וירושלים במקומה:
והיה המקדש בתוכו. כמו שמפרש והולך:

ולאלה תהיה תרומת הקדש לכהנים. ואלה העשרת אלפים רחב וכ"ה אלף אורך יהיה לכהנים בצפון בתוך רצועות התרומה הגדולה אצל דרומו של יהודה:
צפונה חמשה ועשרים אלף. הוא האורך ממזרח למערב:
וימה רחב עשרת אלפים. מצד מערב רחב עשרת אלפים מן הצפון לדרו':

והיה מקדש ה' בתוכו. הוא הר הבית ה' מאות קנים על ה' מאות קנים יהיה באמצע רצועה זו וכל סביבותיו לכהנים י"ב אלפים ומאתים וחמשים לצד מזרח וכן לצד מערב וברוחב ארבעת אלפים וז' מאות וחמשים לצפון וכן לדרום כמו שאמור למעלה בענין יהיה מדה אל הקודש ה' מאות בה' מאות מרובע:
לַכֹּהֲנִים הַֽמְקֻדָּשׁ מִבְּנֵי צָדוֹק אֲשֶׁר שָׁמְרוּ מִשְׁמַרְתִּי אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא־תָעוּ בִּתְעוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּאֲשֶׁר תָּעוּ הַלְוִיִּֽם׃
It shall belong to the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Żadoq; who have kept my charge, who went not astray when the children of Yisra᾽el went astray, as the other Levites went astray.

לכהנים המקודש. החלק הזה המקודש יהיה לכהנים:

והלוים לעומת גבול הכהנים. אצל רצועות הכהנים כמדת הכהנים כנגד כל ארכה:
כל אורך. כל הרצועות אורכן כ"ה אלף:
וְלֹֽא־יִמְכְּרוּ מִמֶּנּוּ וְלֹא יָמֵר וְלֹא (יעבור) [יַעֲבִיר] רֵאשִׁית הָאָרֶץ כִּי־קֹדֶשׁ לַיהֹוָֽה׃

וחמשת אלפים הנותר ברוחב. רצועות התרומה הגדולה שהיתה כ"ה אלפי' רחב ואורך כאחת החלקי' מפאת קדים עד פאת ים וממנ' חזר ותרם שתי רצועות באמצעיתה אורך כ"ה אלף ורחבן כ' אלף ועדיין נשאר ברחבה חמשת אלפים אותם חמשת אלפים רוחב יהיו למושב העיר ארכן על פני אורך כ"ה אלף של תרומת הלוים:
חול הוא. ואינן קודש כתרומת אותה רצועה של הכהנים והלוים חול הוא אצלם ויהיו לעיר למושב ישראל ולמגרש סביב העיר:

וְאֵלֶּה מִדּוֹתֶיהָ פְּאַת צָפוֹן חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִים וּפְאַת־נֶגֶב חֲמֵשׁ (חמש) מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִים וּמִפְּאַת קָדִים חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִים וּפְאַת־יָמָּה חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִֽים׃
And these shall be its measures; the north side four thousand five hundred, and the south side four thousand five hundred, and on the east side four thousand five hundred, and the west side four thousand five hundred.

וְהָיָה מִגְרָשׁ לָעִיר צָפוֹנָה חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתַיִם וְנֶגְבָּה חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתָיִם וְקָדִימָה חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתַיִם וְיָמָּה חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתָֽיִם׃
And the city shall have open lands, to the north two hundred and fifty, and to the south two hundred and fifty, and to the east two hundred and fifty, and to the west two hundred and fifty.

והיה מגרש לעיר. כל מגרשי עיר שבמקרא מקום פנוי לא בתים ולא שדה:
וְהַנּוֹתָר בָּאֹרֶךְ לְעֻמַּת ׀ תְּרוּמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים קָדִימָה וַעֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים יָמָּה וְהָיָה לְעֻמַּת תְּרוּמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְהָיְתָה תְבֽוּאָתֹה לְלֶחֶם לְעֹבְדֵי הָעִֽיר׃

And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy portion, and of the possession of the city; in front of the twenty five thousand of the designated area to the east border, and westward in front of the twenty five thousand to the west border: corresponding to the portions of the tribes shall be the area for the prince: and the holy area set apart, and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst of it.

וּמֵאֲחֻזַּת הַלְוִיִּם וּמֵאֲחֻזַּת הָעִיר בְּתוֹךְ אֲשֶׁר לַנָּשִׂיא יִהְיֶה בֵּין ׀ גְּבוּל יְהוּדָה וּבֵין גְּבוּל בִּנְיָמִן לַנָּשִׂיא יִהְיֶֽה׃
Thus the possession of the Levites, and the possession of the city, shall be in the midst of that which is the prince’s; between the border of Yehuda and the border of Binyamin, shall be the portion of the prince.

ומאחוזת הלוים ומאחוזת העיר. גם הוא בתוך אשר לנשיא יהיה:
בין גבול יהודה ובין גבול בנימין. כל רחב הרצועה אשר בין שני השבטים האלה יהודה מצפון ובנימין מן הדרו' יהיה לנשיא והיא הרצועה שהותרמה ראשון רחב כ"ה אלפים באורך אחר חלקי השבטים:

וְעַל ׀ גְּבוּל שִׁמְעוֹן מִפְּאַת קָדִימָה עַד־פְּאַת־יָמָּה יִשָּׂשכָר אֶחָֽד׃
