וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַ רְאֵה נָתַתִּי בְיָֽדְךָ אֶת־יְרִיחוֹ וְאֶת־מַלְכָּהּ גִּבּוֹרֵי הֶחָֽיִל׃
And the Lord said to Yehoshua, See, I have given into thy hand Yeriĥo, and its king, and the mighty men of valour.

And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven shofarot of rams’ horns: and on the seventh day you shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the shofarot.

וְהָיָה בִּמְשֹׁךְ ׀ בְּקֶרֶן הַיּוֹבֵל (בשמעכם) [כְּשׇׁמְעֲכֶם] אֶת־קוֹל הַשּׁוֹפָר יָרִיעוּ כׇל־הָעָם תְּרוּעָה גְדוֹלָה וְנָפְלָה חוֹמַת הָעִיר תַּחְתֶּיהָ וְעָלוּ הָעָם אִישׁ נֶגְדּֽוֹ׃
And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, when you hear the sound of the shofar, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.

במשוך. בתקיעה אחרונה, בהאריך התוקע את הקול:
A long blast. When the final blast is sounded, and the blower extends the sound.

And it came to pass, when Yehoshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven shofarot of rams’ horns passed on before the Lord, and blew with the shofarot: and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.

והחלוץ. בני ראובן ובני גד היו עוברים לפניהם, לפי שהיו בני גד גבורים ומכים בזרוע חזקה, כמו שנאמר (דברים לג כ): וטרף זרוע אף קדקד:
And the warriors. These were the men of the tribes of Reuvein and Gad who went before them, because the men of Gad were mighty warriors and they would smite with a strong arm, as it is said, ‘And he rips off the shoulder and the head.’1Devorim 33:20.
וְאֶת־הָעָם צִוָּה יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לֵאמֹר לֹא תָרִיעוּ וְלֹא־תַשְׁמִיעוּ אֶת־קֽוֹלְכֶם וְלֹא־יֵצֵא מִפִּיכֶם דָּבָר עַד יוֹם אׇמְרִי אֲלֵיכֶם הָרִיעוּ וַהֲרִיעֹתֶֽם׃
And Yehoshua had commanded the people, saying, You shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall you shout.
