לָכֵן יְשַׁלַּח הָאָדוֹן יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת בְּמִשְׁמַנָּיו רָזוֹן וְתַחַת כְּבֹדוֹ יֵקַד יְקֹד כִּיקוֹד אֵֽשׁ׃
Therefore shall the Master, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory shall be kindled a burning like the burning of a fire.

יקד יקוד. ישרף שריפה כשריפת אש, ומדרש אגדה כאן פרע לבני שם הכבוד שעשה שם לאביו כשכסה ערות נח אביו שנאמר (בראשית טז) ויקח שם ויפת וגו':
וְהָיָה אֽוֹר־יִשְׂרָאֵל לְאֵשׁ וּקְדוֹשׁוֹ לְלֶהָבָה וּבָעֲרָה וְאָכְלָה שִׁיתוֹ וּשְׁמִירוֹ בְּיוֹם אֶחָֽד׃
And the light of Yisra᾽el shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

אור ישראל. התורה שעוסק בה חזקיהו תהיה לאש לסנחרב:
וקדושו. הקב"ה ד"א וקדושו צדיקים שבדור:
שיתו ושמירו. שריו וגבוריו:
וּכְבוֹד יַעְרוֹ וְכַרְמִלּוֹ מִנֶּפֶשׁ וְעַד־בָּשָׂר יְכַלֶּה וְהָיָה כִּמְסֹס נֹסֵֽס׃
and shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a sick person wastes away.

וכבוד יערו וכרמילו. הם רבוי חיילותיו:
כרמל. יער גבוה:
כמסוס נוסס. לפי שדימה אותם לעצי יער דימה פורענותם לתולעת הנוסר בפיו וטוחן העץ וקורהו סס כמו כצמר יאכלם סס (לקמן נא):
כמסוס נוסס. כמגור המגורר:
כמסוס נוסס. כמסוס של נוסס שהוא נטחן דק דק שהתולעת טוחן כך היה האפר ושריפת גופן דק, מסוס הוא הנטחן ונופל ע"י תולעת, נוסס הוא התולעת:
וּשְׁאָר עֵץ יַעְרוֹ מִסְפָּר יִהְיוּ וְנַעַר יִכְתְּבֵֽם׃ {ס}

ושאר עץ יערו. הנותרים בחיילותיו:
מספר יהיו. נחים לספור כי מעט הם ונער יוכל לכתבם ואמרו רבותינו עשרה נשאר מהם שאין לך קטן שאינו כותב יו"ד קטנה:
ותחת כבודו. תחת בגדיהם יהיו נשרפין, הבגדים הם מכבדים את האדם:
