לָכֵן כֹּֽה־אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה צְבָאוֹת אַל־תִּירָא עַמִּי יֹשֵׁב צִיּוֹן מֵאַשּׁוּר בַּשֵּׁבֶט יַכֶּכָּה וּמַטֵּהוּ יִשָּֽׂא־עָלֶיךָ בְּדֶרֶךְ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Żiyyon, be not afraid of Ashshur: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Miżrayim.

כה אמר ה' אל תירא מאשור בשבט יככה. בשבט פיו יחרף ויגדף אתכם על ידי רבשקה:
ומטהו ישא עליך. לאיים כדרך שעשה למצרים, ועוד יש לפרש בשבט יככה אשר עד הנה הכך בשבט והורגל לשאת עליך מטהו ואימתו כדרך המצריים משום ר' מנחם אמר לי ר' יוסף:
כִּי־עוֹד מְעַט מִזְעָר וְכָלָה זַעַם וְאַפִּי עַל־תַּבְלִיתָֽם׃

כי עוד. ימים מעט מזער וכלה, הזעם שלי שניתן למטה ביד אשור כמ"ש למעלה ומטה הוא בידם זעמי:
ואפי. שהיה לשבט ישוב על תבליתם ל' תבל עשו (ויקרא כ׳:י״ב) על חירופין וגידופין אשר גדפו נערי מלך אשור אותי:
וְעוֹרֵר עָלָיו יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת שׁוֹט כְּמַכַּת מִדְיָן בְּצוּר עוֹרֵב וּמַטֵּהוּ עַל־הַיָּם וּנְשָׂאוֹ בְּדֶרֶךְ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

ועורר עליו. ולעורר עליו:
שוט. מכת יסורין:
כמכת מדין. שנהרגו בלילה אחת והמלכים שברחו מהם ונמלטו נהרגו עורב בצור עורב כדמפורש בספר שופטים אף זה לאחר שישוב לארצו ימות שם בחרב:
ומטהו על הים. ועוד יעורר עליו את מטהו אשר היה על הים בפרעה ובחילו:
ונשאו. וטילטלו מן העולם כדרך שנשא את מצרים:
וְהָיָה ׀ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא יָסוּר סֻבֳּלוֹ מֵעַל שִׁכְמֶךָ וְעֻלּוֹ מֵעַל צַוָּארֶךָ וְחֻבַּל עֹל מִפְּנֵי־שָֽׁמֶן׃
And it shall come to pass on that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the fatness.

וחובל עול. סנחריב מפני חזקיהו שהיה נוח לדורו כשמן, ורבותינו פירשו מפני שמנו של חזקיהו שהי' דולק בבתי כנסיות ובבתי מדרשות שהשיאם לעסוק בתורה כענין שנאמר אשר העתיקו אנשי חזקיהו וגו' (משלי כה):

בא על עית. מונה והולך מסעות שנסע סנחרב ובא על ערי יהודה לבא ירושלים ביום מפלתו עית מגרון ומכמש רמה גבעת שאול בת גלים לישה ענתות מדמנה גבים. כולן מקומות הן:
עָֽבְרוּ מַעְבָּרָה גֶּבַע מָלוֹן לָנוּ חָֽרְדָה הָרָמָה גִּבְעַת שָׁאוּל נָֽסָה׃

נסה. ברחה ברחו כולן מפני חיילותיו:
צַהֲלִי קוֹלֵךְ בַּת־גַּלִּים הַקְשִׁיבִי לַיְשָׁה עֲנִיָּה עֲנָתֽוֹת׃

עוֹד הַיּוֹם בְּנֹב לַעֲמֹד יְנֹפֵף יָדוֹ הַר (בית) [בַּת־]צִיּוֹן גִּבְעַת יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ {פ}

עוד היום בנוב לעמוד. כל הדרך הזה נתלבט כדי לעמוד בעוד היום בנוב לפי שאמרו לו איצטגניניו אם תלח' בה היום תכבשנ' וכשעמד בנוב וראה את ירושלים קטנה לא חש לדברי איצטגניניו והתחיל להניף ידו בגאו' וכי על עיר כזו הרגזתי כל החיילות הללו לינו פה הלילה ולמחר ישליך בה איש אבנו:

לכן. לפי שידעתי שתשובו אליו חזקיה וסיעתו (דבר אחר לכן. ל' שבועה לכן באמת).
