וְיָצָא חֹטֶר מִגֵּזַע יִשָׁי וְנֵצֶר מִשׇּׁרָשָׁיו יִפְרֶֽה׃
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Yishay, and a branch shall grow out of his roots:

ונצר. ל' יונק אילן:
ונצר משרשיו יפרה. ובכל הענין ובסופו והיה ביום ההוא יוסיף ה' שנית ידו הרי שנאמרה נבואה זו לנחמת הגולים מאשור, (אמר המעתיק בימי חורפי הקשיתי לשאול לכמה גאונים על מה שכתב א"מ זקני הרמ"א בהגה"ה בהלכות ראש השנה שאגוז בגימטריא ח"ט והלא הוא גם גי' טו"ב, ותרצתי על פי הזוהר מה שהקשה ר"א את אביו רשב"י על שאמרו חז"ל ולא קם נביא בישראל, אבל באומות העולם קם ומנו בלעם וכו', והשיב לו מפסוק גם זה לעומת זה וכו', עד שאפילו שיש קדושה בטומאה אסור ללמוד אותה, שנאמר ומעץ הדעת טוב ורע לא תאכל, ויובן אף שאגוז גימ' טו"ב, הואיל ויש בה קליפה גי' ח"ט, אין אוכלין אותה בראש השנה, ונענעו לי ראשיהם הגאונים ההם. עכ"ל):
וְנָחָה עָלָיו רוּחַ יְהֹוָה רוּחַ חׇכְמָה וּבִינָה רוּחַ עֵצָה וּגְבוּרָה רוּחַ דַּעַת וְיִרְאַת יְהֹוָֽה׃
and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

והריחו ביראת ה'. ימלא רוח יראת ה' ובלע"ז איראונמירלו"י:
ולא למראה עיניו ישפוט. כי בחכמת הקב"ה בקרבו ידע ויבין מי זכאי ומי חייב:
וְשָׁפַט בְּצֶדֶק דַּלִּים וְהוֹכִיחַ בְּמִישׁוֹר לְעַנְוֵי־אָרֶץ וְהִֽכָּה־אֶרֶץ בְּשֵׁבֶט פִּיו וּבְרוּחַ שְׂפָתָיו יָמִית רָשָֽׁע׃

ושעשע. ושחק:
על חור פתן. על חור עפר שהנחש מקנן בתוכו קרו"ט בלע"ז, פתן נחש משהזקין נעשה חרש ונקרא פתן שוב אין לו לחש שנאמר (תהלים נח) אשר לא ישמע לקול מלחשים:
ועל מאורת צפעוני. יונתן תירגם חיזו גלגלי עיני חיוי חורמן, ומנחם פתר בו לשון נקב וחורי עפר וכן אור כשדים (בראשי' י"א) וכן באורים כבדו את ה' (לקמן כד):
גמול. תינוק הגמול משדי אמו:
ידו הדה. ת"י ידוהי יושיט כמו הד הרים (יחזקאל ז׳:ז׳) וכמו הידד (לקמן טו) שהוא ל' הרמת קול אף זה לשון הרמה וה"א אחרונה באה בתוכה יסוד נופל כמו עשה בנה קנה:
לֹא־יָרֵעוּ וְלֹֽא־יַשְׁחִיתוּ בְּכׇל־הַר קׇדְשִׁי כִּֽי־מָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ דֵּעָה אֶת־יְהֹוָה כַּמַּיִם לַיָּם מְכַסִּֽים׃ {ס}
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

שנית. כמו שקנאם ממצרים שהיתה גאולתם ברורה מאין שיעבוד אבל גאולת בית שני אינה מן המניין שהרי משועבדים היו לכורש:

נשא נס. פירקא בלע"ז והיה לאות לקבוץ אליו ולהביא את גליות ישראל מנחה לו:
וְסָרָה קִנְאַת אֶפְרַיִם וְצֹרְרֵי יְהוּדָה יִכָּרֵתוּ אֶפְרַיִם לֹא־יְקַנֵּא אֶת־יְהוּדָה וִיהוּדָה לֹא־יָצֹר אֶת־אֶפְרָֽיִם׃

ועפו בכתף פלשתים ימה. יעופו וירוצו ישראל שכם אחד על הפלשתים אשר הם במערבה של ארץ ישראל ויכבש את ארצם כמו דרך ירצחו שכמה (הושע ו׳:ט׳) שכם אחד (צפניה ג) וכן ת"י ויתחברון כתף חד למימחי פלישתאי די במערבא:
ובני עמון משמעתם. כתרגומו ישתמעון להון, מקבלין מצותם עליהם:
וְהֶחֱרִים יְהֹוָה אֵת לְשׁוֹן יָם־מִצְרַיִם וְהֵנִיף יָדוֹ עַל־הַנָּהָר בַּעְיָם רוּחוֹ וְהִכָּהוּ לְשִׁבְעָה נְחָלִים וְהִדְרִיךְ בַּנְּעָלִֽים׃
And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the sea of Miżrayim; and with his scorching wind he shall shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.

והחרים. ליבשו כדי שיעברו בו גליות ישראל ממצרים:
על הנהר. נהר פרת לעבור בו גליות אשור:
בעים רוחו. אין לו דמיון במקרא ולפי הענין יפתר בחוזק רוחו:
לשבעה נחלים. לשבע גזרים לעבור בו שבע גליות האמורות למעלה מאשור וממצרים וגו', ומאיי הים אינו מאותו צד:
והדריך. בתוכו את הגליות:
בנעלים. ביבשה:
וְהָיְתָה מְסִלָּה לִשְׁאָר עַמּוֹ אֲשֶׁר יִשָּׁאֵר מֵאַשּׁוּר כַּאֲשֶׁר הָֽיְתָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּיוֹם עֲלֹתוֹ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Ashshur; as there was for Yisra᾽el in the day that he came up out of the land of Miżrayim.
