כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה צְבָאוֹת לֶךְ־בֹּא אֶל־הַסֹּכֵן הַזֶּה עַל־שֶׁבְנָא אֲשֶׁר עַל־הַבָּֽיִת׃
Thus says the Lord God of hosts, Go, get thee to this steward, to Shevna who is over the house.

אשר על הבית. ממונה היה על בית המקדש י"א כהן גדול וי"א אמרכל:
מַה־לְּךָ פֹה וּמִי לְךָ פֹה כִּֽי־חָצַבְתָּ לְּךָ פֹּה קָבֶר חֹצְבִי מָרוֹם קִבְרוֹ חֹקְקִי בַסֶּלַע מִשְׁכָּן לֽוֹ׃
Say to him, What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewn thee out a tomb here, hewing out a tomb on high, carving a habitation for himself in a rock?

מה לך פה. הכתוב מגנהו לפי שרצה להסגיר את חזקיהו למלך אשור כדאמרינן בסנהדרין כתב פיתקא ושדא בגירא שבנא וסיעתו השלימו חזקיה וסיעתו לא השלימו:
ומי לך פה. מי ממשפחתך קבור כאן:
חצבי מרום קברו. שחצב לו קבר בקברי בית דוד ליקבר בין המלכים לכך הוא אומר לו מה ירושה לך בקברות הללו:
חצבי חקקי. יו"ד יתירה כמו שוכני סנה (דברים ל״ג:ט״ז) מקימי מעפר דל (תהילים קי״ג:ז׳):
הִנֵּה יְהֹוָה מְטַלְטֶלְךָ טַלְטֵלָה גָּבֶר וְעֹטְךָ עָטֹֽה׃

טלטלה גבר. כהדין תרנגולא דמטלטל מאתר לאתר ורבותינו אמרו טלטולא דגברא קשה מדאיתת':
ועוטך עטה. כמו (שמואל א כ״ה:י״ד) ויעט בהם לשון עיט יפריחך כעוף בגלות, ורבותינו אמרו צרעת פרחה בו כד"א (ויקרא י״ג:מ״ה) על שפם יעטה:
צָנוֹף יִצְנׇפְךָ צְנֵפָה כַּדּוּר אֶל־אֶרֶץ רַחֲבַת יָדָיִם שָׁמָּה תָמוּת וְשָׁמָּה מַרְכְּבוֹת כְּבוֹדֶךָ קְלוֹן בֵּית אֲדֹנֶֽיךָ׃

צנוף יצנפך. כמצנפת המקפת את הראש יקיפוך אויבים ומציקים:
כדור. כשור מקף ורבותינו פירשו לשון כדור שקורין פלוט"א בלע"ז שזורקין אותו ומקבלין מיד ליד:
אל ארץ רחבת ידים. בכסיפיא שם המקום:
שמה תמות. ולא תקבר בקברי בית דוד ושמה יהיו מרכבות כבודך נהפכים לקלון בית אדוניך שבקשת:

וממעמדך. ומשימושך במקדש יהרסך:
וְהָיָה בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא וְקָרָאתִי לְעַבְדִּי לְאֶלְיָקִים בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּֽהוּ׃

לאליקים. הוא היה על הבית כשנפל סנחריב כמו שמצינו כשיצאו אל רבשקה וגלה לו שבנא וסיעתו וגררוהו בזנבות סוסיהם כדאיתא בסנהדרין כשהלך סנחריב אל תרהקא מלך כוש שטף שבנא וסייעתו והלך לו כך שנינו בסדר עולם:
וְהִלְבַּשְׁתִּיו כֻּתׇּנְתֶּךָ וְאַבְנֵֽטְךָ אֲחַזְּקֶנּוּ וּמֶֽמְשַׁלְתְּךָ אֶתֵּן בְּיָדוֹ וְהָיָה לְאָב לְיוֹשֵׁב יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם וּלְבֵית יְהוּדָֽה׃
And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim and to the house of Yehuda.

הצאצאים והצפיעות. ת"י בניא ובני בניא ומנחם חברו עם צפיעי הבקר (יחזקאל ד׳:ט״ו) לימד שהוא ל' עוללים דקים היוצאים ממעי אמן ויהיה צפיעי לשון יציאה דבר היוצא:
כל כלי הקטן. הקטנים שבמשפחותם יהיו מתפארין בו ונסמכין עליו:
מכלי האגנות ועד כל כלי הנבלים. ת"י מכהניא לבשי אפודא ועד בני לוי אחדי נבליא, ויהיה אגנות ל' כלי שרת שמשרתין בהם הכהנים בבית המקדש:
הנבלים. שאומרים בני לוי בהן השיר:
בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא נְאֻם יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת תָּמוּשׁ הַיָּתֵד הַתְּקוּעָה בְּמָקוֹם נֶאֱמָן וְנִגְדְּעָה וְנָפְלָה וְנִכְרַת הַמַּשָּׂא אֲשֶׁר־עָלֶיהָ כִּי יְהֹוָה דִּבֵּֽר׃ {פ}

הסוכן. בעל הנאות היה וכן (שם א א) ותהי לו סוכנת ומ"א אומר מן סכני היה ובא לו לירושלים בויקרא רבה:
