לֵךְ עַמִּי בֹּא בַחֲדָרֶיךָ וּֽסְגֹר (דלתיך) [דְּלָֽתְךָ] בַּעֲדֶךָ חֲבִי כִמְעַט־רֶגַע עַד־(יעבור)־[יַעֲבׇר־]זָֽעַם׃
Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

וסגור. דלחך בעדך ת"י עביד לך עובדין טבין דיגנון עלך ורבי תנחומא דרש סגור דלתי פיך שלא תהרהר אחר מדת הדין:
חבי. התחבאי מעט עד יעבר זעם כי אמת אפקוד על שונאיך:
כִּֽי־הִנֵּה יְהֹוָה יֹצֵא מִמְּקוֹמוֹ לִפְקֹד עֲוֺן יֹֽשֵׁב־הָאָרֶץ עָלָיו וְגִלְּתָה הָאָרֶץ אֶת־דָּמֶיהָ וְלֹא־תְכַסֶּה עוֹד עַל־הֲרוּגֶֽיהָ׃ {פ}
For, behold, the Lord comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

כי הנה ה' יוצא וגו'. ממדת הרחמים למדת הדין:
יושב הארץ. הוא הר שעיר:
על הרוגיה. שהרגו בישראל:
לך עמי בא בחדריך. תשובה זו השיבהו לנביא לך עמי בא בחדריך בבתי כנסיות ובבתי מדרשות, ד"א התבונן על מעשיך בחדרי לבך כך דרש רבי תנחומא:
