וַיְהִי דְבַר־יְהֹוָה אֵלַי לֵאמֹר מָה־אַתָּה רֹאֶה יִרְמְיָהוּ וָאֹמַר מַקֵּל שָׁקֵד אֲנִי רֹאֶֽה׃
Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, What dost thou see, Yirmeyahu? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֵלַי הֵיטַבְתָּ לִרְאוֹת כִּֽי־שֹׁקֵד אֲנִי עַל־דְּבָרִי לַעֲשֹׂתֽוֹ׃ {ס}
Then the Lord said to me, Thou hast seen well: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

היטבת לראות. השקד הזה הוא ממהר להוציא פרח קודם לכל האילנות אף אני ממהר לעשות דברי, ומדרש אגדה השקד הזה הוא משעת חניטתו עד גמר בישולו עשרים ואחד יום כמנין ימים שבין שבעה עשר בתמוז שבו הובקעה העיר לתשעה באב שבו נשרף הבית:
