אַל־תִּבְכּוּ לְמֵת וְאַל־תָּנֻדוּ לוֹ בְּכוּ בָכוֹ לַהֹלֵךְ כִּי לֹא יָשׁוּב עוֹד וְרָאָה אֶת־אֶרֶץ מוֹלַדְתּֽוֹ׃
Weep not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goes away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native land.

בכו להולך. ליהויכין ולצדקיהו אמור מעתה חביבה מיתתו של יהויקים שנאמר בו ונבלתו תהיה מושלכת לחורב ביום ולקרח בלילה (לקמן לו) מחייו של יהויכין שנאמר בו וארוחתו ארוחת תמיד וגו' (לקמן נב):
כִּי כֹה אָֽמַר־יְהֹוָה אֶל־שַׁלֻּם בֶּן־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה הַמֹּלֵךְ תַּחַת יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ אָבִיו אֲשֶׁר יָצָא מִן־הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה לֹא־יָשׁוּב שָׁם עֽוֹד׃
For thus says the Lord concerning Shallum the son of Yoshiyyahu king of Yehuda, who reigned instead of Yoshiyyahu his father, who went forth out of this place; He shall not return there any more:

אל שלום. הוא צדקיהו וכך נקרא (בדה"א ג) והרביעי שלום וקראו רביעי למלכות בבני יאשיהו שבתחלה מלך יהואחז ואח"כ יהויקים ואחריו יהויכין ואחריו צדקיהו:
אשר יצא. ואע"פ שלא יצא עדיין מתנבא עליו כאלו יצא:
כִּי בִּמְקוֹם אֲשֶׁר־הִגְלוּ אֹתוֹ שָׁם יָמוּת וְאֶת־הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת לֹא־יִרְאֶה עֽוֹד׃ {ס}
