הַאֱלֹהֵי מִקָּרֹב אָנִי נְאֻם־יְהֹוָה וְלֹא אֱלֹהֵי מֵרָחֹֽק׃
Am I a God near at hand, says the Lord, and not a God afar off?

אִם־יִסָּתֵר אִישׁ בַּמִּסְתָּרִים וַאֲנִי לֹֽא־אֶרְאֶנּוּ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָה הֲלוֹא אֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲנִי מָלֵא נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? says the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? says the Lord.

אם יסתר איש. זהו כפל תמיהה האלהי מקרוב כדרך כל תמיהות הכפולות:
שָׁמַעְתִּי אֵת אֲשֶׁר־אָֽמְרוּ הַנְּבִאִים הַֽנִּבְּאִים בִּשְׁמִי שֶׁקֶר לֵאמֹר חָלַמְתִּי חָלָֽמְתִּי׃
I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

עַד־מָתַי הֲיֵשׁ בְּלֵב הַנְּבִאִים נִבְּאֵי הַשָּׁקֶר וּנְבִיאֵי תַּרְמִת לִבָּֽם׃
How long shall this be? Is it in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies and the prophets of the deceit of their own heart;

עד מתי. ינבאו שקר וכי יש בלבם של הנביאים הללו הנבאים שקר לקיים מחשבותם שהם חושבים להשכיח את עמי שמי וגו':
תרמית. לשון מרמה:
הַחֹשְׁבִים לְהַשְׁכִּיחַ אֶת־עַמִּי שְׁמִי בַּחֲלוֹמֹתָם אֲשֶׁר יְסַפְּרוּ אִישׁ לְרֵעֵהוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר שָׁכְחוּ אֲבוֹתָם אֶת־שְׁמִי בַּבָּֽעַל׃
That think to cause my people to forget My name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers forgot My name for the Ba῾al?

הַנָּבִיא אֲשֶׁר־אִתּוֹ חֲלוֹם יְסַפֵּר חֲלוֹם וַאֲשֶׁר דְּבָרִי אִתּוֹ יְדַבֵּר דְּבָרִי אֱמֶת מַה־לַתֶּבֶן אֶת־הַבָּר נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃
The prophet that has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? says the Lord.

יספר חלום. יספרנו ל' הבאי כשאר חלומות ולא יחזקנו בדברי נבואה:
מה לתבן את הבר. מה ענין שקר אצל אמת:
את הבר. עם הבר:
הֲלוֹא כֹה דְבָרִי כָּאֵשׁ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָה וּכְפַטִּישׁ יְפֹצֵֽץ סָֽלַע׃ {ס}
Is not My word like a fire? says the Lord; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

הלא כה דברי כאש. לא היה להם לטעות ולדמות חלומות לומר שהם נבואה כי דבר נבואה כשבאה בפי הנביא בגבורה היא באה בו כאש בוערת כענין שנאמר ותהי בלבי כאש בוערת (לעיל כ) ואומר ויד ה' עלי חזקה (יחזקאל ג׳:י״ד):
וכפטיש. פי"ק בלעז ויש אומר מרטיי"ל בלעז:
האלהי מקרוב. שאיני רואה אלא בסמוך לי ואין בי כח לשפוט את התחתונים שהם רחוקים ממני ואיני יודע במעשיהם:
