וְאֵלֶּה הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהֹוָה אֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֶל־יְהוּדָֽה׃
And these are words that the Lord spoke concerning Yisra᾽el and concerning Yehuda.

כִּי־כֹה אָמַר יְהֹוָה קוֹל חֲרָדָה שָׁמָעְנוּ פַּחַד וְאֵין שָׁלֽוֹם׃

שַׁאֲלוּ־נָא וּרְאוּ אִם־יֹלֵד זָכָר מַדּוּעַ רָאִיתִי כׇל־גֶּבֶר יָדָיו עַל־חֲלָצָיו כַּיּוֹלֵדָה וְנֶהֶפְכוּ כׇל־פָּנִים לְיֵרָקֽוֹן׃
Ask now, and see whether a man travails with child? why then do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned to paleness?

אם יולד זכר. אם דרך לזכרים ללדת שיאחזום חבלים כיולדה:
חלציו. כמו מתניו:
הוֹי כִּי גָדוֹל הַיּוֹם הַהוּא מֵאַיִן כָּמֹהוּ וְעֵֽת־צָרָה הִיא לְיַֽעֲקֹב וּמִמֶּנָּה יִוָּשֵֽׁעַ׃
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: and it is a time of trouble to Ya῾aqov; but he shall be saved out of it.

היום ההוא. יום הריגת בלשאצר ומפלת בבל, ע"א יום מפלת גוג:
וְהָיָה בַיּוֹם הַהוּא נְאֻם ׀ יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת אֶשְׁבֹּר עֻלּוֹ מֵעַל צַוָּארֶךָ וּמוֹסְרוֹתֶיךָ אֲנַתֵּק וְלֹא־יַעַבְדוּ־בוֹ עוֹד זָרִֽים׃
For it shall come to pass on that day, says the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy hands, and strangers shall no more enslave him:

אשבר עלו. יסור עול האומות מעל ישראל:
